Does Kirk Ferentz get a statue.

When it's all said and done does KF get a statue?

You can't tell the story of Iowa football without him, but I'm not a fan of statues for people who are still alive, so maybe wait 10 years or so after he's gone.

Why would he get a statue?

What exactly big has he EVER won?

KF won the 2010 Orange Bowl and the 2005 Capital One Bowl. That's about it as far as big. Of course the only things bigger that those would be playoff wins or maybe an outright B10 title and/or BTCG win. I don't see why he would get a statue. He is not revered like HF was and doesn't have the coaching tree HF does.

Kirk has some impressive numbers, but there will always be a segment of folks who question his greatness. He deserves a statue just as much for what he has done off the field, as what he has done on the field, which includes:

Will become Iowa's all time leader in wins this year surpassing Hayden Fry
3 Big Championships
2 National Coach of the Year awards
3 Top 10 finishes

I do think that an outright Big 10 Championship and a Rose Bowl victory would cement his status as great....and hopefully he has a legit shot at that goal in the next 1-3 years.

All good points, however I think he as 5 top 10 finishes. 02, 03, 04, 09, 15?

KF was part of HF staff for 69 of HF 143 wins.... KF help rebuild Iowa Football twice in his career because HF last team was really really down on talent. I was on the sideline for the Minn game for Hayden last team. Gophers were better in just about every position on the field. It was shocking.

All that being said, if only one statue is allowed, I'm picking HF because there is nobody more important to Iowa Football but I also believe that KF is the better FB coach.

In today's world, where lots of statues are erected, I guess he'll get one.

He is a good, not great, coach. Glad he represents my university.
Then put one at the hospital where he gave his money or in the football facility where he developed linemen. He is not the football coaching savant some of you make him out to be

You missed two top 10 finishes and gave him an extra Conference Championship.

No. Have a statue outside your kitchen window with one leg propped up like he is pissing all over your Cheerios. That way you could wake up each morning sniveling and bitching to get your day off on the right foot.

Or it could be out your window where you could worship his 7-5 seasons with a losing record in conference and record against the worst P5 school in the history of football

The Cap One win over a Nick Saban coached LSU team was big in my book. KF also has a couple of nice wins over Michigan, PSU and that blowout of OSU last year.are noteworthy.
not to mention the number of Bowl appearances as well as a large percentage of kids that go to the NFL compared to other quote big-name programs. In the fact is longevity alone should put him in a statue discussion

Does Hayden have one on the U of I campus? There's one that the city of Coralville put up, correct?

As much of a great idea it is to have him waving to the hospital, I prefer gum chewing, notepad writing suggestion. Maybe make it a robotic statue to simulate mastication.

In all seriousness, he does need a statue and some part of the stadium should be named for him.

The Kirk Ferentz statue will be up, and smiling before the end of Brian's first season as Iowa's Head Coach. They should also erect one of Barta on his knees.

what school is that?
also what are the b1g schools he has a losing record against?

How or what do you view as a massive achievement at Iowa? Would he get a statue at Wisconsin, or Minnesota?

I think he has been a great representative of the school, his wins and titles don't warrent a statue, unless he wins an outright B1G title and competes for a National Title in the playoff before he retires. That's just my opinion though.

For some reason I only remember two B1G Championships. 2002,2004. When was the third ? Plus I don't think a Coach with a losing bowl record gets a statue, but that record could change over time.

Tough crowd in this thread. Can we talk about a serious subject now - the water tower?

2 out of 3 things factually inaccurate, you need to go 6-3 going forward to catch up.

Correct. One in Coralville from Fry's Fest, but none on UIowa campus.

So Evashevski has a street named after him and of course there's the Kinnick statue. While I actually like the idea of a KF statue waving to the children's hospital, I don't see much precedent that it will happen.

Just two, 2002 and 2004 under Kirk. OSU won it in 2009 vs. Iowa in the 'Shoe in a game we all remember and of course Sparty beat us in the title game in 2015.
