Good to see Drake having a solid start to the season. The valley now essentially a one bid league they'll need to take care of business come arch madness time.

Agree Storm. DeVries spent 17 years at Creighton as an asst, and supposedly wanted the job 2 other times while they hired 2 horrible coaches. Think he sees an opportunity in Des Moines to possibly do what Creighton has done as a private school. He would certainly be a hot commodity if they win the league and win 20 games again. As a Iowa and Drake fan I hope he stays.

Watched every home game for 2 years. Far and away Drakes best player ever, and yes I’m including the Final 4 team with Willie Wise.

Did you have the opportunity to see Lewis LLoyd play? That dude could ball.

My dad started taking me in 1979...I was in 1st grade! I was too young to remember him specifically...I remember vividly when Gary Garner was coaching. Lloyd was awesome...great NBA career too. Oh how I miss the 80s!

GO HAWKS!

He was huge in the playoffs the year the Rockets beat the Lakers. He went from a power forward at Drake to a lean 6-6 guard in the pros. Bird was the best I ever saw at Vets but The magic man had an incredible 2 years at Drake. Must watch basketball.

Lou Hudson, Dave Schellhase, Wes Unseld, Butch Beard, Joe Allen, Nate Bowman, George Wilson. The talent that came through Vet’s to play Drake in the 1960s was among the very best in the country. The Bulldogs held there own with Double Mac, Billy Foster, Neto, Gene West, Bogash, Prinns, Hanson, and a magical 5 minutes from Herman Watson. Then they finished the decade with one of the state’s greatest teams playing their hearts out.
