I saw Black Magic and Drake at the Fieldhouse in December of 1979. We won, but I think we were still in shock as I believe it was the first game after Ronnie Lester was injured at the Dayton tournament. Lloyd was tremendous those two years he played with Drake. Probably averaged about 28 pts and 12 RB's his college career and that was without the 3-point shot. Lots of dunks. He was magic!

Drake's next game was at Georgetown who they defeated. Same season Iowa beat Georgetown to go to Final Four.

Drake better look at an extension now. I fear if they wait until the end of the season he is going to be a very hot commodity. He's 58-24 at Drake for goodness sakes. .707 winning percentage.

As a kid I saw their final four team. Loved theirSweet Georgia brown warm up drills. They were for real. It took Lou Alcindor to bring em down. That’s Kareem for the kids out there.

Here's the Drake - UCLA game from 1969 ... 2 parts.

Lloyd averaged 30 pts and 15 rebs his junior year. Saw him play that season in the barn. I recall Pop Wright as a colorful teammate - slapping hands with fans as he ran down the sideline - but also a pretty good ballplayer.

Jan 27 Update:

Drake keeps rolling & is now 15-0, which extends their best start in program history.

Original Post (Dec 27):

Drake is now 10-0 after today's (Dec 27) win at Indiana State. It is their best start in program history.
They are not playing in the best league in the country. Good for them beating everyone, but no way they are undefeated playing Iowa's schedule.

And I doubt anyone is claiming they would be, Doesn’t take away from the fact they are having a great season.

FWIW, Bracket Matrix has them as a 10 seed if the NCAA Tournament field were selected today

I wonder if Liam Robbins regrets his decision to transfer. Minny is in good position to make the field, but it’s not everyday Drake is in position to win a conference title.
Unlikely. He wanted to play in the B1G

And just so you know , Chis is a troll to avoid. He started that duplicate thread deliberately. That's what he does. And you should see the crazy ass shit he posts on HROT.

Drake is.....ok. Their NET ranking is great but if you look at KenPom, which would be pretty close an accurate measurement of the Vegas line, they are right there with Michigan St. That said, I could definitely see them taking out their first round opponent, especially one that can’t shoot the 3 ball well.

But the troll from HROT thinks they are such a big deal he started an exact duplicate thread!
