Echo Deal

I noticed how you couldn't answer the only question I asked you.

Why does the price of a smartphone go down if you commit to a 2 year contract?

When you avoid answering a basic question, shows how you have already lost the debate.

It doesn't matter what you say about the Echo. The vast majority of Americans understand the opportunity cost of them. They can comprehend that they already have a device that can do the exact same functions already. So they chose wisely to spend their money on gas, mortgages, tuition, vacation, food, electricity, and anything else that provides a value to them.

Last time I bought a new cell phone there was no longer an option to do a 2 year contract for the majority of phones. You either bought the phone outright or paid monthly installments. Price was the same.

I think you are just trolling, but if not, holy cow.

How did you come to that conclusion? Passing judgement without using or having something is a bit short sighted.

Approximately 40 years go my Dad got my mom a microwave for Christmas. Her words- "I need that like I need a hole in my head". Didn't take long and she found it quite useful.

I have the Dot. Alexa can lock/unlock my door. She can give me sports scores. She can turn my lights on/off or turn the temperature up/down in the house. When I cook supper I can listen to Billy Joel or most anything else without touching my phone. Added bonus, she can turn my TV on/off/etc. Using it for timers and alarms is handy as hell too.

I've had mine for 8+ months and I still use it on a consistent basis.
Do you have an recommendations (brands, styles) of wall plugs and such that can be controlled by Alexa?

No way do I want something not only listening to everything, but recording it and storing said data in the cloud..............but that's just me.

I think you can review what Amazon/Google has recorded, right? How weird.

It doesn't you maroon.

Let's take the largest provider in the US, Verizon.

They subsidize the phone through the contract - and then charge you more per line for having that contract. As evidenced by any hundreds of website dedicated to "thriftyness" and how to save money on cell phone bills.

But, now that is especially true as nearly all of the big players have moved towards monthly payments on the phone and separating it from the contract. Where you pay ~$30/month for two years, and guess what that comes out to? The price of the phone.

Unless you are so incredibly naive as to believe cell phone companies are just eating the prices of phones and then all of a sudden decided not to - you just are an idiot.

The vast majority of Americans? Read this: http://bgr.com/2017/06/02/amazon-echo-sales-figures-2017-est/

Amazon is shipping 10Million of these devices in just 2017 alone.

Tough guy got to resort to name calling when he loses an argument. I also noticed you just had to post this on Friday. Couldn't sit back and enjoy the Hawkeye weekend. Pretty pathetic that you felt the need to reply and didn't have anything better to do for the weekend.

Your linked article means nothing. Sales figures are like buttholes, every has them and they can be manipulated like crap. Just because 10 million are shipped doesn't mean that they are popular. It could be 1 guy buying all of them. Most likely not, they are crappy products and have a lifespan of about 3 weeks. So it is repeat buyers that are idiots.

Says the guy that can't properly quote a post. Says the same guy that says an articulated post is irrational because it differs with his view and thinks there's a parallel between a $50 gadget and a sex toy.

We're done here.

Says the guy who can't tell the difference between 50 dollars and 70 dollars. Says the guy who is too lazy to use a key to unlock his doors. Oh wait, they invented garage door openers like 50 years ago.

If you want to shove your opinions down people throats, don't get all pissy when some respond in polite fashion with facts and figures.

Try getting outdoors and enjoying nature. Obviously you are overstressed and need some relaxation.

Why do you have to deflect away from what this thread is about? We are talking about how Echos are a waste of money. I already won the argument about the cell phone price so move on.

I guess that was a decent troll job. Congrats?

You are trolling. You got no life so you respond withing 10 minutes. Talk about being a troll.

You still haven't been able to justify the cost of the Echo. Normal people have opportunity cost. You might want to save your money for your kids college. I really hope your wife had an affair so those kids have decent genetics. However, if they are yours, they are sure not going to be getting any scholarships.

Then again, if they are yours, college is probably out of the question. So you might want to start saving up for a legal attorney to pay for those criminals.

Now it's like the last season of a sitcom where all the nuance and cleverness is gone and the characters are just playing exaggerated caricatures of themselves.

Come on dude, your post are not even the slight bit entertaining. I provide humor and people love it. What do you bring to the table?

The answer is nothing. Unless you are trying to be the most boring poster on here.

Like this post, it is boring. No one gives a rat's nipple about it. Provide a joke or humor. Make people want to read what you write. Don't talk about your kids. No one cares about fugly children.

I get the feeling I.C Hawkeye is somehow proud of this thread and is now just reaching trying to keep the thread alive. I say let it die. It will leave him sad and unfulfilled.

Thanks for your worthless input cartoon avatar guy. I am happy to keep this thread alive so people can learn how crappy the Echo really is.

We've found Prime's new account.

This is the poster from the corporate taxes thread that made a dozen posts about consumers paying corporate taxes and then argued relentlessly that he didn't mean just consumers he meant all people, including owners, and employees. He just never mentioned them but he totally meant them, too.

That guy brings the funny.

Meanwhile . . . Amazon is also selling their Fire 8" tablet for $55, if anyone is interested. Not the cheapest price I've seen, but close. It can't compete with the iPad or Samsung Tab S3, but it's a bargain at that price. You have to be a Prime member to get that price.
