I know someone posted an article about those guys getting in trouble. Not sure if it touched on the aftermath much, but every pilot involved basically never flew in the military again. My Delta pilot buddy flew a trip with a guy that was part of that squadron (not actually in that demonstration) and said their careers all got burned.
The military types are just built different. There's a pretty big divide in the commercial pilot world between the college/flight school guys and the military grads. Back in 94 an air guy who had previously been disciplined (or lack thereof) took himself and crew out crashing a B-52 doing crazy shit they weren't supposed to be doing during a practice run for an air show. Probably the reason they have zero tolerance now when an incident like the Kinnick flyover happens.
