Yow, day hike can be tough. Hope you've been camping up at the trailhead to get acclimated.
Spent the day as high as possible without permit today. 2 weeks ago spent a week in Breckenridge and summited Quandary and Bierstadt. I love Chicago but lack of elevation there sucks.

About the best I could do juggling family and life stuff. Should be ok…have been training my ass off for months for this.

Good luck, take pictures. Most of our group made it up but I got elevation sickness at Trail Crest and headed down to Trail Camp.
I was good the first day when most of our group was feeling the altitude, but I felt it the second day.

Well, sitting in the Vegas airport 2 days after reaching the summit. My buddy and I thought it would take 12-14 hours…took us 20. 12am-8pm. We both ended up having pretty rough digestive issues at altitude and I was on the struggle bus for at least 14 hours of the journey, but I did it.

All in all not bad for a 52 year old.

Yeah, that's what I had issues with on my attempt. I spent a lot of time in the sun toilet at Trail Camp after we came down the switchbacks.

Congrats, doing it in a day is for fit young people.

When we climbed it the Badwater Ultramarathon was going on. It's typically a 135 mile race from Badwater to Whitney Portal. We were passed throughout the day by runners who decided that the real race was from Badwater, up to the summit and back down again. Those people are nuts.

I missed this thread.

I did that in the target parking lot with my son sitting up where the handle is. We were on the way to the aquatic center for a boys day and only had goggles in the cart so it wasn’t weighed down. Thank god he only had skinned knees but that was a bad call to the wife!
