Favorite beaches

Yeah he crossed my mind when I was making this post.

FL>Cali and it’s not close
I think Americans take copious high quality beaches for granted. For sure there are great beaches in Europe, but I was very disappointed in the beaches where we were in Italy. I just kept thinking to myself why do people pay such crazy prices for rocky course beaches after having been to so many great beaches here.

In no particular order and for different reasons these come to mind:

The beach at St. Regis Resort in Goa India. Sand quality was good (not great), but we walked for 2 miles without seeing anyone. Just beautiful vistas where a river meets the ocean.

The rocky beach lining the shore of Rio Serrano in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. I met two super friendly collies that worked on a nearby cattle ranch. The dogs escorted me up and down the river as I explored the area. So peaceful.

Off the coast of Phuket in Thailand is Ko Racha island. It is a super small island that you can only get to by speedboat. It has a wonderful secluded beach perfect for snorkeling. Pristine water, lots of marine life, protected cove so no strong currents. Very private.

Barcelona, Spain. Not so much for the beach itself, but for the people watching and proximity to great architecture, food, events, etc. I had a great time drinking Estrellas and Sangria while eating Tapas at little restaurants all along the beach.

Heading to Clearwater Beach in March.
It has become our favorite place to go in FL only having visted there once. Stayed at the Hilton right there by the pier. Around dinner time they had a guy playing guitar and singing until the sun set. We requested the gambler and it was pretty cool. Where we stayed you can just walk to what you want. There is some trolley did not take advantage of but we will next time. Have fun!

Numerous trips to Outback Bowl to watch Hawks introduced us to Clearwater Beach. Have now been there 8-10x. Going during NCAA tournament. Bar hop and watch basketball. Wife will relax on Beach.

The FL panhandle beaches up and down 30A are tough to beat for water clarity and pure, soft sand.

There are a lot of people in certain areas though to contend with, but facing the water and sitting on the beach, one can easily forget there is a 30 story condo right behind you.

One of my faves is Bahia Honda State Park in the Keys. Gotta go midweek and early, certainly can get crowded on weekends.

Overall favorite: Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres, MX. Classic white sand, blue water, calm, swimmable, lots of beach bars/huts/shacks. Nostalgic reasons growing up.

Favorite city beach: Tel Aviv, Israel. Right up against the city, stretching to the old town of Jaffa. Great walking/biking path. People watching. Also very swimmable. Restaurants. Games. Social. Similar to Barcelona, but I'd rank higher than the Barcelona beach I've been to.

Exclusive beach: Long Beach, Koh Rong, Cambodia. When I was there back in 2015, it was a somewhat difficult hike through jungle and then you could take a water taxi back to the main area. By this point there's probably multiple hotels.

But I had never seen such clear water, with perfect white sand, and bath tub temperatures with hardly anyone else around.

Have been to Tel Aviv as well and looking south to the old city of Jaffa from the beach is amazing. I would put Barcelona slightly higher (if for no other reason than topless Spanish women), but both are world class city beaches for sure.

I'm a little biased, but this is the closest beach to my house. Shark's Fin Cove, just south of Davenport, Ca. I'd put the scenery of any of the central/north coast California beaches up against anywhere else. Water is cold, yes (54 degrees today), but the views and fishing are unrivaled.
Hey, we have beaches in our Davenport too!

For sure, it's pebbly. But the ladies do exercise top optional sunbathing which makes up for it.
Yes. We were at a beach club on positano and almost everyone was as expected. I then turned my head and saw 3 friends sunbathing topless 30 feet away. I was quite surprised and it took me aback for a moment. One of them had a magnificent natural rack. The other 2 should have kept their tops on.

Besides Hawaii, what tropical beach should I look at going to first? Preference is natural photographic beauty, pristineness. Secondly... a bit of culture and a nice place to relax. Don't care that much about hotels.

Debating between caribbean and south pacific.

Caribbean is closer and cheaper.
