Five in the bag, five to go.

I mean 19 wins overall means we're solidly in. Probably as a 7 seed, but we're in.

We have a very solid resume right now, numbers-wise.

The only downside to the idea that we put a bottom on what to shoot for is the idea that we'd be taking some losses, and probably once again down the stretch when we don't want to be losing.

I'd prefer us to actually be playing with some "winning" momentum going into March, as opposed to needing to shake off a rough finish to the regular season................just sayin.

I think 10 conf wins absolutely gets iowa in the tourney. Good news is I think iowa blows past that win total

The road stretch the rest of the way is just brutal, kinda why the Nebraska and Penn State ones still sting a bit. 5-1 at home is very attainable, but picking off more than 1 of those road games left seems a tall order. @Minny and @ Indiana are the two "easiest" ones.

For the most part I agree.

That said, if we wrap up an early bid, but don't really have a shot at winning the conf....top priority should probably be keeping everyone rested I'd think. Not on the bench and rusty though obviously :D.

This is a talented team with mental and physical toughness. Although still pretty young with room to grow as well.

I think we're going to pull of a couple of surprising road wins. I'm thinking two or three of Bucky, Purdue or Minnesota.

I think 10 Big Ten wins, reg season, gets us in. We need five more.

Five very winnable games at home. Do we get more than ten wins?

Thoughts?

13-7 in the Big Ten. Top 4 in Big Ten. 1st round bye in the BTT. Top 20 finish. At least a 6 seed in the tournament. I’ll guess a 4 seed. This team is legit. Garza is 1st team AA. Wieskamp and Fredrick are legit. Kriener is really good. McCaffrey is solid. Trouissant will have some Freshman hiccups but is improving. Bakari will contribute. If we stay healthy, this could be a dangerous team in the tournament. This is fun. I think this team has the mental toughness to keep it going. We’ve seen flashes in the past, but if this team stays healthy, the sky is the limit. You simply can’t stop Garza in the post. If you have multiple healthy 3 point shooters (Fredrick and Wieskamp) to compliment that as well as some scrappy players (McCaffrey, Kriener, and Trouissant/Bakari), this team can win any game. Big Ten is tough this year but Iowa is really tough.

True, but I mean we were 19-5 or 19-6 at one point last year. I can understand rotating guys more in the final 2 games or so, but we can't expect to stagger down the stretch every season like last year and be like "no big deal, we'll put on a good showing in the NCAA tournament anyway."

I don't think it's an ideal strategy you'd want to live by.........but that's just me. ;)

Yet we still had the best, well tied for best, season in 13 years, and frankly in the preceding twenty in some ways. The Whitey team got real hot down the stretch. I think this group has the mental toughness to kind of grind out the close wins whereas earlier FMac teams did not. Other than Joe T tonight, our free throw shooting was clutch without JoBo.

I disagree in some respect. May have a tournament bid locked up, but you're still playing for seeding. I'd much rather go in as a 4 than 8/9.

I don't really care who we play, we either show up and play well or we don't.

That said, cutting an extra day off the b1g tourney could certainly be good for us. That is for sure.

Great post! At least there others that realize that this team is very special even thou defections and injuries have depleted this team. Just having one of the best centers to don an Iowa uniform is something we may never see again in our lifetime. Enjoy it while it lasts.

It’s going to be an absolute battle to get 5 more.

Will get two with Wisco and NE games at home, that is 7. Unless there are any more injuries I feel the floor is 10 for this team and the realistic ceiling is probably 12.

12 would be fantastic.

Luka missed some "could been big" FTs. Definitely want JW, CM, or CJF with the ball at the end of the games.

Iowa is improving game by game. The biggest thing is to avoid any injuries down the stretch and keep Luka out of foul trouble. Otherwise they will be in every game from here on out. I would say 11 to 12 wins.
