Performance of the week

It was another huge week for running back Toren Young as he ended up with 27 carries for 283 yards and 5 touchdowns in Monona Grove's 42-21 win over Madison Edgewood on Friday night. Through 5 games, Young now has 128 carries for 1,036 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.

Other notable performances

Wide receiver Devonte Young had 6 catches for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in North Point's 34-19 win over Calvert Hall on Friday. Through 3 games, Young has 11 catches for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns this season.

Running back Toks Akinribade had 17 carries for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns, but it was not enough as Brownsburg lost to Fishers 37-23 on Friday night. Through 5 games, Akinribade now has 96 carries for 568 yards and 8 touchdowns this season.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson had 6 catches for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns to help Chariton stay undefeated with a 19-7 win over Mount Pleasant on Friday night. Through 4 games, Hockenson has 33 catches for 476 yards and 9 touchdowns this season.

Quarterback Nathan Stanley's No. 1 ranked Menomonie team was upset by Superior on Friday night, losing by a score of 31-28. Stanley completed 5 of 13 pass attempts in the game for 98 yards with no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Through 5 games, Stanley has completed 29 of 55 pass attempts for 680 yards with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions this season.

Barrington Wade only had 3 carries for 16 yards before a right shoulder injury forced him to miss the rest of the game in Niles North's 63-21 loss to Maine South on Saturday. Through 4 games, Wade has 63 carries for 682 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

Lance Billings was held to 6 catches for 38 yards as Clearview only had 5 first downs and 100 yards of total offense in their 42-0 loss to Firelands on Friday night. Clearview is now 1-3 on the season.

Offensive lineman Spencer Williams led the way upfront as Cedar Falls racked up 250 yards rushing, but it was not enough as they lost to Urbandale 56-49 in triple overtime on Friday. Cedar Falls is now 3-1 on the season.

Cole Banwart finished with 6 tackles and 1 TFL, but his Algona team suffered their first loss of the season in a 42-13 game against Webster City on Friday. Through 4 games, Banwart has 17 tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 1.4 sacks this season.

Class of 2017 defensive end commit Coy Kirkpatrick had 8 tackles and 1 TFL in Madrid's 44-28 win over Ogden on Friday night. Through 4 games, Kirkpatrick has 22 tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks this season.

Juan Harris recorded 4 tackles including 3 TFL and led the way upfront offensively as West Union racked up nearly 400 yards rushing in their 38-15 win over Oelwein on Friday. Through 4 games, Harris has 13 tackles, 5.5 TFL, and 1 sack this season.

In injury news, defensive end Romeo McKnight announced on Friday that he will undergo ACL surgery and miss the rest of his senior season. Iowa commit Austin Schulte is also out for the year following ACL surgery in early September. Also, Kristian Welch missed his team's game on Friday with an ankle injury, but is expected to return next week.

Last, but not least, Amani Hooker had another big game defensively with 9 tackles and an interception that he returned 60 yards for a touchdown in Park Center's 21-16 win over Robbinsdale Cooper on Saturday. Through 4 games, Hooker already has 5 interceptions this season.
