In our following the future update, we take a look each week during the season at how Iowa's commits are doing on the field, including our performance of the week. Join us throughout the season as we watch their progress and get ready for the future of Hawkeye football.

Performance of the week

Running back Toren Young has put up big numbers in just about every game this season and this week was no exception. In his regular season finale on Friday, Young finished with 34 carries for 280 yards and 4 touchdowns, including the winning score in Monona Grove's 35-32 victory over Milton, which clinched a share of the conference championship. As Young's team gets ready for the playoffs, he currently sits at 256 carries for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns through 9 games this season.

Other notable performances

Barrington Wade had another big game with 33 carries for 232 yards and 1 touchdown, but it was not enough as Niles North lost 34-30 to Glenbrook North on Friday night. Through 8 games, Wade now has 148 carries for 1,428 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Running back Toks Akinribade finished with 19 carries for 120 yards, but Brownsburg fell to 4-5 on the season after a 44-24 loss to Hamilton Southeastern on Friday. Through 9 games, Akinribade now has 203 carries for 1,323 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

Amani Hooker really put his versatility on display this past week, as he threw for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown, and caught a touchdown pass in Park Center's 64-2 win over Minneapolis Southwest. Defensively, Hooker finished with 3 tackles and 1 interception from his free safety position. That gives him 10 interceptions through 9 games this season.

Cedric Boswell had a big game offensively on Friday as he finished with 13 carries for 111 yards and 1 touchdown and added a 62-yard receiving touchdown in Birmingham Groves' 42-0 victory over Royal Oak. With the win, Birmingham Groves improved to 8-0 on the season.

Quarterback Nathan Stanley threw for touchdown passes of 59 and 63 yards in Menomonie's 39-13 win over River Falls on Friday night. Through 9 games, Stanley has completed 60 of 114 pass attempts for 1,285 yards with 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions this season.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson had 9 catches for 103 yards, but no touchdowns this week as Chariton lost to Carlisle 49-7 on Friday. Through 8 games, Hockenson now has 76 catches for 1,047 yards and 16 touchdowns this season.

Wide receiver Frank Darby had 3 catches for 85 yards and 1 touchdown on offense and an interception on defense in Lincoln's 40-6 win over Hoboken on Friday. Through 6 games, Darby has 15 catches for 423 yards and 6 touchdowns this season.

Emmanuel Rugamba continues to produce on both sides of the ball as he finished with 2 catches for 65 yards on offense and 3 tackles and an interception on defense in Naperville Central's 34-14 win over Wheaton North on Friday. Through 8 games, Rugamba has 36 catches for 576 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

Kristian Welch had a big night on Friday with 15 tackles on defense to go along with 14 carries for 152 yards, 3 catches for 45 yards, and 3 touchdowns on offense in Iola-Scandinavia's 49-16 win over Manawa. With the win, Iola-Scandinavia improved to 8-1 this season as they get ready for the state playoffs.

Tight end Noah Fant had 2 catches for 7 yards and 2 touchdowns plus 1 TFL on defese in Omaha South's 71-19 win over Bellevue East on Friday. Through 8 games, Fant has 43 catches for 519 yards and 9 touchdowns to go along with 18 tackles, 4 TFL, and 3.5 sacks.

Linebacker Kyle Taylor came up big with 2 fumble recoveries as Gonzaga upset nationally ranked DeMatha 24-14 in a game televised by ESPN2 on Friday night. Gonzaga is now 7-0 on the season.

Two way lineman Cole Banwart had 4 tackles on defense, but Algona was not able to get much of anything going on offense in a 63-0 loss to Carroll on Friday. Through 8 games, Banwart has 36 tackles, 8 TFL, and 5 sacks this season.

Wide receiver Devonte Young only had 1 catch this week, but he certainly made the most of it with a 94-yard touchdown on a screen pass in North Point's 35-0 win over Leonardtown on Friday. Through 7 games, Young has 25 catches for 458 yards and 4 touchdowns this season.

Other notes: Iowa commits Austin Schulte and Romeo McKnight will both miss the rest of the season after undergoing ACL surgery in September.
