Foreign Trip practices....any reports?

I didn't know they were practicing already. That is great. How many practices are they allowed before this trip?

This is a VERY good thing to have happening right now. Perfect for this young squad.

We should be able to come out of the gates running come November!

Go Hawks!

I believe they are allowed ten practices? I suspect they will use them as overall templates so the guys can work without the coaches around and know what they need to be doing.

These years when teams have overseas trips, I think it is important not to burn out 1-8. Give 9-13 plenty of time to develop their games. Especially redshirts and Freshmen. Also would be a great time to experiment with lineups and new skills i.e. Wagner on the wing etc...

Exception for Dom Uhl who is playing in front of family and friends let him play.

I am more concerned about the teams physical safety on this trip. Germany is really in a bad place for a lot o reasons. Anyone else concerned?

Na. The FIBA U19 kids are in Cairo, that would have me a smidge more nervous

Spoke with Sherm Dillard on Wednesday. He is very excited about Nunge and Garza. He feels that they bring a lot to the table and already make the team better. He's not sure yet, of course, how the minutes will shake out. He said that JBo is an assassin and loves having the ball in his hands at crunch time. He loves the fact that Kreiner, Garza and Nunge can all hit the 3 and it will really help with spacing. He's a great guy that has been around the block and knows his hoops

Awesome stuff....thank you very much for the info!

Definitely understand. London seems to be a big target these days.
I'm not even talking about terrorist attacks. There are riots in the streets right now in some German cities.

It's understandable that a lot of people here don't realize this as it's probably not covered that extensively here.

But the temper tantrum group and the fake outrage mob isn't just limited to the United States right now. These loons are everywhere.

Those riots in Hamburg are a result of the G-20 summit meetings going on in that city right now. That meeting will be long over with by the time the team arrives in Germany. I believe the team and staff will be just fine over there.

G20 summits always have huge protests. Always. And Europe is known for large-scale protests anyway.

It's also a country bigger than the state of Montana. This is like saying "I don't know if you should go to Iowa, there's those protests going on at the Keystone Pipeline."

Come the **** on.

Your media choices thrive off of fostering your fears. Germany, including Hamburg, are fine. Damn you're pathetic.
You are such a ****ing hack. All one has to do is Google Hamburg riots and you can see tons of video of antifa leftists destroying property in attacking cops

You're terrible

Except these aren't protests. These are violent and destructive riots.

Google is our friend

I really think you should change your media preferences. Pathetic
My media preferences paint a more complete picture of what is going on in the world—not carefully curated clips and images designed to scare me one way or another. Plus a good friend lives in Hamburg and we skyped last night. As per usual with protests, a tiny minority became violent, but otherwise it was relatively peaceful.

And necessary. People need to be out letting their voices be heard, do they not? Or are you afraid of peaceful protesters, too?

Personally, I think you're just afraid.

Ok but my concern is how are we looking at the back-up spots at the 1 and 2? Also will Fran continue to use Baer off the bench vs as a starter?

LOL. You're pathetic.

Nobody has a problem with peaceful Gatherings and protests. But the left doesn't do peaceful.

These are no selective edited or carefully curated Clips you freaking clown.

Did you even watch that video? You can see smoke from fires all over the place and you can see people breaking into buildings and there are obviously riots in the street. This isn't just some right-wing news source covering this either. These are news organizations from CNN to German networks covering this. It's not some made-up overhyped deal.

You leftist loons try and justify violence at every one of your "protests" because you believe your idiotic causes justify this as a result.

Talk about being scared. Only scared people resort to violence and Destruction for their crazy causes. But that's what you get when you follow left-wing idiology.

I'mma let you finish but I just want to say that this quote is extremely hilarious given we just celebrated The Fourth of ****ing July.

Don' nobody ever moan about me changin' the subject agin' :D

(Rudolph is right though)

I suppose we will be getting some articles soon on how our Hawkeyes are coming together.

If they can play PTL games in Iowa's most dangerous city (not North Liberty), the odds are they'll manage OK in Germany. o_O

USA State Dept said it should be safer now that the G-20 is over today.

They're expecting big crowds, as they are now heading to the basketball arena to get good seats to see the Hawks.

What are they supposedly "protesting"?

Or is it like here where the social justice flakes dont really know what they're protesting?

Actually if theres no clear reason for it, like here, It just makes people angry.

And vauge nonsense like protesting for "rights" that you clearly already have doesnt cut it.

God I'd like to argue global politics...but that is the purpose of FB is it not?

Thanks for the update on practices. Love to see a line up with AW at 3. Think he's sufficiently athletic for the defensive part but hasn't shown offensive skills outside of basket. But ball handling and, to an extent, shooting can be learned and developed. Hope AW has developed the offensive game.

Wagner at the 3 is an interesting idea.

Defensively its no problem.

I think hed have to pair with Garza/Kriener at the 5 or Nunge at the 4 to keep 3 outside threats on the court.

You couldn't have him Cook and Pemsl on the floor together.

With 5s that can pull the other teams big away from the basket that could also leave Wagner with a much smaller guy trying to keep him away from the glass.

There are so many choices/options for Fran.

Just for fun. 247sports had Iowa's 2016 recruiting class ranked 37th in the country. Can we all pause and think about how much recruiting rankings mean now? Or do we need to wait a year? :)
