I am listening to this podcast from this morning which was hour 3. Kap has known and liked Fran since he was at notre Dame.
Kap a big fan of Iowa's size and also ability to break the press.
asked what he's worried about, Fran mentioned the bouts of inconsistency. however, he feels like the defense has gotten better all year.
asked about Davidson, Fran States how much respect he has for mckillop and the level of familiarity from UNCG. says winning SoCon and switching leagues and winning A10 is very impressive. they shoot 3pt very well. wants to score in 80's.
how balance freedom with shot selection: Fran says one of his assistants is amazed at the freedom he gives his players. Fran says if you are going to run then you want your guys to have a free and clear mind. uses film to identify what's a bad shot, but doesn't want guys over thinking. need to know what each player is good at.
how was watching selection show different? great feeling knowing that you are unquestionably in. Doesn't like how bracketology has taken emphasis off winning your conference.
Haugh referenced Knight and how he hated losing so much. Fran likes taking time to appreciate winning, but takes business like approach. nothing like road wins. every team, every coach is working just as hard, recruiting just as hard, trying to beat you.
good 5-6 minute interview. producer (Iowa grad) traveled to iowa city for northwestern game on senior day. Couldn't find tickets outside and had to pay $100 there were so many looking for tickets.
