Freaky Spencer Fact

Would have been faster but Angel was down there with his Inspector Clouseau magnifying glass

I was almost cheering that the match would go into the 3rd period. Why? We were witnessing true greatness and it's a shame Spencer's days are over in Carver.
The only question in my mind was would Spencer get a pin. I would've bet everything I owned that match wasn't getting to the second period.

so lets hope that Spencer's next plan after finishing his college career is to be the leader of the HWC and dominate on the International side...and for him to be part of the recruiting team... Between his storied achievements and M*'s recruiting prowess I could see them ushering in a new era of Hawkeyes that find the new facility and the wrestling atmosphere unequaled in this country and eventually we see Spencer as the Next HC at Iowa.

I'm rarely in a loss for words, but Spencer has me completely flabbergasted once again.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe Witcraft tried to hit a really quick cow catcher and SL felt this and knew immediately to cast over. Normally this would be incredible for any high level wrestler, what makes this amazing is the speed and precision that it was preformed. Sick just sick!

After watching the replay in slow mo several times, it was a very impressive attempt by Witcraft and he actually had a tight grip on Spencer's chin. Spencer's head spun fairly quickly when he cast over and Wit lost the chin grip. I would not be surprised if he caught a few good wrestlers with this in the post season.

Why Witcraft tried to do what he did escapes me. I suppose he felt like there was a chance at throwing Spencer was a high-reward move. Of course, he was delusional not figuring that with Spencer you just don't do those things. At least he tried something I suppose.

Maybe I missed some things but I thought he called a pretty good meet for a change.
Maybe I thought that because we won 8 of ten and I didn't have much to bitch about. 🤣
I agree - the group I was with also thought that he did a pretty good job overall.

To me, it's better than laying on your belly trying fight hands to keep from getting tilted. I think its a strategy we'll see employed from here on out if the opponent has any type of upperbody prowess.

Yep, not many are going to actually think they can out wrestle Spencer and since guys have hit a cradle or throw vs him a couple times people are going to try and hit something for a fall or at least to try and get a 6 on the board and hold on. You can bet they are studying film and looking for positions to catch him in something. He needs to get guys taken down and get to work in his matches.

On the Brands takedown. I don’t recall the head official conferring with the second official and then awarding points, on an initial no call. He did a good job of calling stalling. He typically has a lot of restarts from referee’s position because he’s not consistent on when he blows the whistle. He was much better yesterday.
He might of gave us one on the PD call in the Warner TD scramble? He called the pin right in Spencer’s match.

I got to figure he is further out from his most recent acl surgery then his first match at carver.

Edit: Pretty good slow mow of it on Facebook, but not sure how to post it

Thanks go out to the wrestling gods for the internet, Twitter, Youtube, and other sights where we can watch Spencer "Freaking" Lee as many times as one would desire. Not every match, but there are enough to keep one busy for a while.

Thanks for the slow-mo video. One of Spencer's strengths is his uncanny mat awareness. He has had so many takedowns on the edge and then this. I think, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but his chain wrestling, one move after another, and after another to score points is genuinely unique. Now pulling this one off should create even more doubt in anyone that they can win.
