Fry coaching tree

Some people create coaching trees. Hayden Fry left behind a redwood forest of coaching giants.

A lot of good things I had never heard before. The amount of praise they all had for Bill Brashier was VERY impressive. I seem to remember Fry speaking highly of him, but I guess I kinda dismissed it as just loyalty to his top assistant.

Hate to say this, but I sometimes find KF kinda dry. Can I say "not sexy?" Anyway, I loved this, "The only thing I knew about Hayden Fry was that he was a squared-jawed Texan and an ex-Marine. By time I left, there was nothing I wanted more than to coach at the University of Iowa."

How can any Iowa fan not like that?

hayden is the man. as iowa fans, i think we have a tendency to take for granted the stability and the foundation that he laid, not just here but all over the college landscape. we got ferentz, k-st got snyder, ok got stoops, isu got mccarney, wis got alverez and bielema.

some of them may have eclipsed fry in individual accomplishment but none will equal his legacy and wide reaching impact. maybe no (football) coach ever will. we got the best of the bunch.
