Gabble Steveson to Iowa?

Even in the NIL era, how can you sign a professional football contract and then return to collegiate athletics?

You can literally fight MMA at the same time as competing in college now, so this is no big deal at all. Remember Chris Weinke, Drew Henson, etc and all the baseball guys that came back to be QBs over the years? And now rugby guys coming over as punters from Australia.

There should be some sort of penalty for coming back after leaving the shoes on the mat.

(beyond some serious heckling that will undoubtedly occur)
PSU would boo him for sure. But unfortunately they don’t dual. So it will be an applause fest.

How in the world can he have any eligibility left. Can people just come and go from college on a whim. Can pico wrestle as a freshman somewhere. It truly is the Wild West out here.

Pico has aged out of Division 1 because your 4 seasons in 5 years eligibility starts at age 21 regardless of enrollment and he's 28 now, but yes he could wrestle NAIA or possibly NCAA D2 or D3 with an approval waiver.

Just seems like you should have to actually go and compete at the Olympic Trials in order to be able to use an Olympic redshirt.
I've made that argument in the past when AJF used one to escape his legal troubles when no program would allow him in after the double bird incident. Using one while exploring professional wrestling and trying out with the Bills seems appropriate in comparison. LOL.

That tweet hilariously does NOT explain how he is allowed to claim a retroactive ORS.

That comma is doing a lot of heavy lifting
Without the comma, yes what follows that sentence should be an explanation of how he is able to retroactively take an Oly shirt. With the comma, the how becomes how he is eligible for 2025, not how he can retroactively take an Oly shirt (with being allowed to retroactively take an Oly shirt now being the answer).

I was more so using pico as an example of the absurdity that is NCAA rules. But touche’, this is still crazy no matter how you slice it.

19 - runner up.
20 - champ
21- wrestling but not because…covid
22 - reigning Olympic champ ncaa champ.
23 - fake wrestling
24 - no longer fake wrestling, football and apparently an Olympic redshirt.
25- back to college. All because of the “Olympic rs” he took while getting cutting from fake wrestling and the buffalo bills.

I don’t think anyone can argue how absurdly he’s abusing the Olympic redshirt rule. I don’t care that he’s coming back. I just think it’s absurd, and honestly a ploy to stay relevant. He could have been the best heavyweight we’ve ever seen, but it’s clear he’s not that into the sport.

I’ve never seen a wrestler as talented as Gable try to do anything else aside from wrestling. I’d assume if clown college offered Gable enough money he’d spend six months learning how to juggle and walk on wire rather than wrestle.
