Gabble Steveson to Iowa?

Aaron Donald left Pitt at 6-1, 260#
I just double checked, he was 285 at the combine. That's a pretty big jump from whatever Gable was at camp, and after seeing him play in preseason I don't think he's sniffing 6 1" either.
I really thought Gable was bigger.

Aaron Donald played at Pitt at 6-1 , 260#. That is same size as Gable. That does not mean Gable will be as good as Donald. I watched Donald in HS and saw every Pitt game in which he played. To say that Gable is not athletic is rediculous..

Some people just have a natural feel for a certain sport, and not others, even if they are athletic. For Gable that sport is wrestling, for other big athletic guys, it’s football or basketball.

different era, however you have to talk about John Randall as an underrated, small DT. The difference being is Steveson isn’t as hungry as Randall was. If you have You Tube TV, there is a show named a Football Life. Randall’s story is great watch.

Gable is a standout athlete for a heavyweight wrestler, but just average athlete for big time football. Most really athletic big guys stick with football, which is where most of the glory and possibly money is.

There is no chance Gable is 6’1”. Also, you can be athletic and still not be close in athleticism to somebody else. Steph Curry is athletic but he is nowhere near the same athleticism as somebody like LeBron. Donald just beat LeSean McCoy in a race. You really think Gable could get close to McCoy?

Correct. Wresting isn’t a good indicator of foot speed, even if your quick with your moves. My son had a kid in his class who looked fine with his wrestling movement, but when I saw him try to run in football I was shocked how slow and awkward he was.

Paris was a serious football player in high school who almost chose football. He said he would have if he would have gotten a power 5 D1 offer. Odds of him making it are still slim.
Way better football prospect than Gable, but I'd be surprised if he was fast enough to play linebacker in the NFL after not playing for so long.

I believe Paris was considered to be more of a 3 star football recruit. I know he had an offer from Indiana, but I don't know if any other upper conference schools offered him. Most of the serious interest was from MAC level schools.

That being said, he still has much more football experience and skills than Steveson.

Mason was a 2 star football prospect. 4.76 40 yard dash with not a great offer list to play football.

Definitely an uphill climb for him to make an NFL roster.

Failed as a professional wrestler, failed as a professional football player, back to amateur wrestling. Feel like he wasted a few years trying to be what he isn’t. He didn’t want to compete at the highest stage again but instead back to d1. Cool I guess

I mean, he torched amateur wrestling all the way through the highest point you can get to in the Olympics, so maybe he wanted a different challenge while he's still in his athletic peak? Now that those things didn't work out, he's back to wrestling. First with the NCAAs, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another gold in 28.

Iowa never had a shot at him
Biggest loser in this is kerk
I'm sure it definitely got Kerk's attention. He's been trying unsuccessfully to beat Gable for like 10 years. It looks like he may get one more chance (although I will never bet against Gable...).

Some really great heavies again this year with Gabble, Kerk, Hendrickson, and the young gun BK.
Heavyweight is suddenly the most loaded of any class. Kerk, Hendrickson, Bastida, and Schultz are all back for one more go at it, with Gable putting the shoes back on, and young guys like BK and Feldman on the ascent. Nationals are going to be great at heavy this year.
