Gable Stevenson last match Saturday

My mistake, but Ringside totally misrepresented that he is done Saturday. I didn't see the other thread.
He said this Saturday I will wrestle in my last, first home match of my career. See you there. I think some took it as his last college match that's not the case
Yes it does quote him as saying after Saturday he will retire from amateur wrestling for good.

The pro wrestling rumors are that he'll make his debut at Wrestlemania 38 next April shortly after the NCAA tournament, so kind of figured he'd only be back for his fourth year and not take his free year from COVID.

No, it doesn't. You just didn't read it carefully.
"Steveson toon to Twitter recently and revealed that after this Saturday, he will be retiring from amateur wrestling for good. This is due to him focusing on becoming a WWE Superstar."

OK, this is a direct quote copied from the article. Please tell me how I am miss reading this????

The article is incorrect, it misinterpreted Stevie's twitter post.

First, you said "Yes it does quote him as saying after Saturday he will retire from amateur wrestling for good.". I said you misread Gable's quote, and then you provided a quote from the article asking how you misread it, which doesn't provide any evidence because they misread his quote as well.

As for Gable's quote, he said Saturday will be his last, first home duel of the season. That is, it's the LAST TIME he's having his FIRST HOME DUEL OF THE YEAR because it's his last season. So, as an example, this Friday against Princeton will be Marinelli's LAST, FIRST home duel of the year as well.

Do you get it?

Not really. I just assumed that dueling was illegal in most states.

WRONG! See the above from GoHawks^^^^^^ THAT is what you needed to say, and that was all! This was the article posted about the OPs thread that I read. I do not have twitter or whatever it was suppose to come from, and if I did. I surely would not be following GS.

That being said, you should have said, "fake news" or like above the article is wrong. You shouldn't have mis-quoted me which you did, and also say I didn't read it carefully.

This all leads to the "pissing matches" that every thread becomes. Do not know if it is something lost in translation-someone just stirring the pot-or someone who needs to prove they are smarter? The OP read what I read and posted it, took a dozen posts before some simple just said, That is not what he said!

THE END!!!!

Yes, but the important question is whether the use of the comma was correct. This should be on the cesspool entrance exam. This is also the last first time I'm going to suggest this.

You don't need Twitter to see Steveson's quote as it's laid out perfectly in the article. His tweet is also shown further down in the article, which again doesn't require you to have twitter to see. So, in two different spots in the article his quote is there for you to read, which you seemed to imply that you did when you said "Yes it does quote him as saying after Saturday he will retire from amateur wrestling for good." That's a direct quote from you; not a misquote.

So you either:
A. Read the article and didn't see his quote, which doesn't require Twitter to see
B. Read his quote in the article, but didn't understand it correctly and thought he would be retiring after the dual.
The solution to both of those is for you to read more carefully.

I'd also like to avoid a Pissing Match, and instead engage in a Pissing Duel.

come on dude!

Yes I read the oddly worded part, " my last first home match." I was guessing because of that that maybe this was just thrown out to create some hits or whatever. What is the next one from him? "This will be my last first home match on Saturday, This will be my last first home match wearing my favorite socks etc...."

BUT, then the article clearly said he took to ...... and posted what I have previously quoted. Now why would they do that? Again it my all be just to get people talking about him, generate some noise if you will. There was no way that I could have know he did not also say this!

I did laugh at "Pissing Duel" if this becomes another one of those stupid challenge things that dumb kids do. We can split the royalties 70-30. You get the 30!

I think Duels should be reinstated as legal, especially amongst Politicians (Burr/Hamilton). You could build a shitload of roads and bridges with the pay per view dollars and you wouldn't have to tax anybody. The epitome of Win-Win. 🙂

And intentionally too. He’ll collect his NCAA bronze and go make money soon enough.
I am surprised you were even quoted and no one responded to the bolded part...Exactly who is going to beat Steveson at NCAA's this season? Are you wearing your blue and white colored glasses?

It’s about time! It was 95% to see what kind of reaction it would get, and 5% deference to Cass and Kerk looking better …

If gable committed to the hawks few years back and accomplished what he has done already (1 ncaa and Olympic title), how would hawk fans feel about him leaving the program early for the wwe?

Personally, I'd be very disappointed from a fan perspective but totally understanding as well, and wish him best of luck going forward. Hell, I wish he'd stick around the freestyle scene for at least one more cycle but can't blame him for wanting to cash in on his success

THAT depends on if they decided to keep him on the shelf his first last year or were going to allow him to compete in the last first match of the year.

I vote first up is a Pelosi vs McConnell duel (swords, not pissing). I'd pay for that, and hope it ended in a L-L draw. Either way, it would be hilarious to watch.
