Gaetz report release is imminent …

So, the guy elected president, whom the American people knew is a sexual predator and pervert before electing him, handpicked the guy, whom the elected president undoubtedly knew is a sexual predator and pervert before nominating him, to be attorney general.

Checks out.

Who wants to wager Matt Gaetz would still be reelected in Florida for the purpose of Christian values?

We are truly a nation chock full of inbreds and idiots. It’s no wonder the rest of the world thinks Americans are stupid and morally bankrupt—because we are.

Gaetz is clearly thinking about running for Marco's soon to be vacated Senate seat. That will be awesome when Florida elects him to the Senate.

Now release every ethics report on every congressperson and senator, past and present.

Are you talking about those who have ethics reports? Because if there is no ethics investigation there is no ethics report.

Don't think the ethics committee would have time to investigate every single person. So they tend to just focus on those who they get complaints on.

But I would agree if the ethics committee does an investigation the report should be released.

Yes. Everyone that has been investigated.

Florida isn’t going to do anything. Pam Bondi isn’t either. Maybe if he took some of his dates to Maryland or New York. If he was flying them in from other states?
Either way Gaetz has money, political friends, and a public profile that makes it difficult. Crazies are willing to harass or dox any enemies real or imaginary.
I could see the lower courts looking to prosecute. IMO, It would likely be a dead end and waste of money with him having top cover of higher courts. Sucks that is the perception/reality.

Well if you’re a smaller state court do you really want to get in the hornets nest and also suck money away from prosecuting other cases. It’s a big time and money commitment.
It’s yet another reason why I think we’re going to see more powerful individuals meet a bad ending by vigilantes. People are seeing CEO’s, congressman , etc as a systemic problem.
It’s a big reason why a lot of people don’t vote.

Looks like the cons in this thread are sealioning again.

Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter. It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate", and has been likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.
Tom Paris is doing that. He's a team blue guy all the way.

Your guy wanted Gaetz as the top cop of the country. If you can’t recognize the issue, you are even stupider than I thought you were. What’s even more disturbing is you can’t even acknowledge that Trump’s choice for AG is problematic. Instead, your brain goes straight to ‘everyone is doing it’.

False.

I've never supported Gaetz.

If the DoJ didn’t think they could get a conviction I don’t see lower / state courts proceeding with prosecution here.

- The usual suspects want to talk about anything other than Gaetz in a thread about Gaetz. What a surprise. I am surprised there hasn't been any Greenwald or Zero Hedge paste jobs.

- It is exceedingly amusing to watch Northern try to be clever. He's like the middle class Doobi.

Doobi at least has a sense of humor and can be clever.

Northern is like Brick from Anchorman, but instead of weather, talks politics.

My general sense of things is that Trump never really wanted Gaetz as his AG and never had any illusions that he would be confirmed. Gaetz is a very polarizing figure, even within the GOP. And getting 50 senators to confirm him was probably not realistic.

I think Gaetz was looking for a way to bow out of the House and save face. He knew the ethics report was coming and he knew it was going to have some pretty embarrassing stuff in it. He hoped that by resigning from the House it would prevent the report from going public.

For his part, Trump rewarded his loyal soldier by floating Gaetz as his AG nominee in order to give him a dignified reason to resign from the House, knowing that Gaetz would never get confirmed and would end up taking a job at OAN or one of the other conservative channels.

Short version: Raper in chief rewards fellow rapist by pretending he wanted to place him in the highest-ranking prosecutor's office in the country.

Classy.
