Mabin....????

Snyder seems to have a tough time diagnosing plays, that'll come with time and he will be a good one!!

Iowa probably a 7-8 win team if Jewell were to go out with an injury..

O-LIne needs to pass pro better..

For the football coaches out there.. Next week my guess is Lazard will be lining up with Mabin.. Does it work defensively for King just to go the side he goes to or would you have to flip the entire defense?

DL is gassed @2:05 3rd Q. Miami OL pushing DTs 3yds off LOS on run plays. Would not want to be in the film room with Reese and Phil tomorrow.

My guess would be heavy dose of LB blitzes in weeks to come..

I think before we jump to conclusions we gotta step back and assess the situation. I'm sure our team wasn't all that inspired to play Ball State, and we built a big lead early and took the crowd out of the game. Also it's our first game. Kirk's teams always look flat out of the chute. Enjoy the win.

Next week we have an instate rivalry night game. I'm sure we'll see a whole different Hawkeye team.

Ball State?

Defense looked uninspired. D line hardly did anything. Seeing it in person was kind of embarrassing.

Weakest link= Greg Mabin

Offense was electric at the beginning of the game, but of course Kirk let off the gas and they played abysmal the rest of the game.

We really need to work on that D or else Michigan and Wisconson will wipe the floor with us, let alone ISU.

No you're right and it would be easy to over-react but the DTs are going to hear it tomorrow, They will flush any mistakes on Monday morn. Not worried.

I'm wondering too if Iowa would be better off having King follow the best WR all over the field.

Come on, now.

What about that guy that Jewell rubbernecked on the KO return? Man was I glad to see him get up but I'm sure that kid was seeing rainbows the rest of the game.

You could literally see the cartoon birdies above his head.

If the defense continues to be this bad we are in for a long season IMO. No pressure and very little pass coverage.
Not trying to be a homer here, but we only lost 3 starters from last years pretty solid defense. Why are we in for a long season? You're coming up with this after one game?

Ball State pun? Speak for yourself. They looked great in their first game last year. See 2014 season for your reference to uninspiring starts.

You guys are a nightmare. We WON. It's the first game. It's the first time going against a team where you don't know what they are going to do everytime and we got 10 freshman in. R.E.L.A.X. win and advance and get better.

I said "if" we continue to play defense like today it would be a long season. It really will not matter how many returning starters IMO!

I don't come to this board for rah-rah pick me ups to sell me on reasons to be happy. I come here to objectively discuss the Iowa football team.

Today we won by less then we were expected to while catching many breaks. 3 TO's to 0 and we literally caught a break when replay overturned a TO called on the field to be incomplete that we cashed in for a bonus 7 points. Additionally, we had to inexplicably go for it on 4th and goal to pad another TD to the total. And most concerning of all, we were out gained by what many would consider a bad MAC team. So objectively I've come to this board to express concern.

and an objective person would at least mention that despite everything you just posted we still won by 20

28 points was the baseline, Bro. You comprehension skills need some work.

surprised you didn't mention the line in your "objective" discussions about Iowa football.

Face it all you want to do is look at the negative and discuss the bad parts. That's fine and has it's place. But, it isn't "objective."

Td you seem like a ton of fun. I want to party with you. It was the first game of the season and our team won comfortably. Call me crazy but I would rather be in our situation where the coaches will have tape of things we need to do better than blowing out a team by 60 points and being so much better than your opponent your mistakes get covered up. Also if you don't think 24 is a big win by kf standards you need to stick around for awhile.

Nice to win, I'm sure we will do okay and win at least 8 games and get our azz handed to us in bowl game if we don't fix some weaknesses. Anthony Nelson looked like he has some potential.

Look Guys, I'm very happy we are 1-0, but that wasn't or shouldn't have ever been the question. My thoughts raised here are objective and the negatively slanted view is only to combat those that are attempting to shrug off our poor overall performance for excuses. I still think we have the talent to have a great year, however I have been around for long enough to know that the first game performance means much more then some would lend it credit.

You mean like 2009. Needed back to back field goal blocks to beat UNI. Won the Orange Bowl.

You aren't objective when you think a +3 turnover margin is luck, and a correct replay review fixes a call on the field. Why doesn't the fourth down TD count? This is new Kirk, we get fourth down TDs every week.

Touché. However none of those guys are on this team. Plenty are from the last two years.

There's no way that replay overturned fumble was the correct call. That is being very objective. And KF would t ever consider going for that 4th down in a game in doubt.

The way the trainer was looking at Hesse I thought it was a concussion. Probably a could precautionary step.

I love all you know nothings. The game plan worked. It was to not put anything on tape. There was never a need to adjust from that.
Iowa doesn't have a new DC and they're running the same system as last year, so there's plenty tape already out there. It's one game, we won, that's all that matters.

Good thing you know replay better than the professionals on the field who made that call.

I guess we need to ignore miamis fourth down conversions and every yard that was gained after them. Since they never would have gone for them when they weren't down 24.

right cause no coordinator anywhere ever, has ever made simple adjustments to their overall plan year-to-year.

Even if Iowa won by 3 points. You people would be crying, complaining and nagging more than your wives.

Next time, please leave your sinicism out of your analysis.
