If Garza gets a second foul with 10 minutes to go in the first half of pretty much any game from here on out, then Fran is going to have to seriously reevaluate his two foul rule and trust Luka not to pick up the third
Based on Fran's foul decisions, I'm not sure he'd be willing to keep Luka in there. We have great shooters and nice length in Keegan and Patrick to put in during those "sit" stretches. We can go small if needed. I would love to get Josh as many minutes as possible, but to me right now, he just doesn't look ready physically, and I'd hate to see him get hurt.

In an interview with Fran I just read, he said both Kris and Josh may get some minutes. Not sure when, OR if it just coach speak, but he said it.
Frans comment: “..But at some point we're going to need another big guy, you're right. I'm comfortable, I should say getting more comfortable, with the possibility of playing Josh and Kris in particular....”

Ogundele will see action vs nebraska (and not just mop up)

I really feel sorry for Keegan. Hes really a SF being asked to play PF and even some back up C now.
While I agree that he's being asked to play out of position and not the position(s) he's best suited for, the minutes and experience he's gaining this year will serve him well for years to come. If he can bang with some of the biggest/strongest and more experienced guys the BIG has as a true Freshman, his ceiling is only going to be elevated when he's able to settle into his more natural position IMO.

I hear you. He needs to get in the proper shape first before hoisting up the minutes appreciably. I believe he has potential, but it will require conditioning, diet, and devotion to it on his part. Fran and staff will get him there.
This, the limited PT I have seen him play, he does not look like he has developed into his body via the training and conditioning methods you referenced. If I remember correctly he was delayed getting to the US due to COVID & was likely even further behind developmentally than he otherwise would have been. I think he could spell Garza for a couple minutes, but if we're just throwing a body in there to hack a Kofi type big man, I'd be more inclined to put Kr Murray in there to do it. I think the upside at this point is higher to have a more athletic quicker player in there to spell Garza should the need arise. Now if we're needing to send a message and destroy some people coming into the lane, he's our man!

You must be new to watching sports. Again, he might be a good player someday. Definitely not ready to play this year. Anyone with a brain who has seen him play this year knows it, besides you because you’re a simp.
Big O has played in 5 games for a total of 12 minutes all season, i.e., 2.4 minutes per each of the 5 games on average. Not enough time ti evaluate much, even for a seasoned pro like yourself.

I could see Big O getting some minutes here and there but I think the Murrays and PMac will be playing a lot if Garza sits. Defensively they give Iowa the best chance.

great point. Many here having argued that JoeT can’t show his abilities in the low numbers of minutes per game, the same is true for Ogundele, it’s near impossible for him to be accurately assessed in 2 minutes at mop up time.

I believe he’ll play, and although won’t be perfect, he’ll show he can rebound, and demonstrate a payable level of M2M defense

I'm one who would like to see JO, there is no way a Murray or Mac could defend a big for any length of time, Garza limited by fouls will kill us. Even tonight 2 quickies and it will be Debbies to lose.

When did you see him play?

I know, Debbie doesn't have a real center so it shouldn't be a problem but 6-9 250 should be able to have his way with anyone around 200.
If you are referring to Ouedraogo, he only averages 15 minutes per game. Banton is listed as a 6'9" 204 lbs guard who averages 28 minutes per game, Mayan is 6'9" 205lbs and averages 25+ minutes per game, Thorbjarnarson is 6'6" 205 and averages about 21 minutes per game, and Derrick Walker is 6'8" 232 and averages 20 minutes per game. They would probably only play 2 or 3 of these at the same time so it's not like they would ever tower over or push around Iowa's players. I have faith in the lineup that Iowa has. I think Luka will feast on their interior players.

Ever more the reason to play Ogundele tonight. Why wait until IOWA faces the 2 WI Bigs , or Kofi and a Dickinson in BTT?
give him some minutes where he is not facing an all B1G center.

I wasn't thinking straight, obviously with Luka in foul trouble won't be an issue, hell in b10 tourney we should bench Luka and let Keegan piss pound Cockburn and Dicksson.

Kofi is a 55% FT shooter
Kofi is 100% dunker
purposely fouling Kofi when he’s going dunk is a perfect job for Ogundele

We’re up 70 and he ain’t in.. this settles it
Very disappointed in Fran for not getting Ogundele more than 3 minutes in a 40 pt blow out

i get that the 2nd 5 needs minutes more than the 3rd team, however, it would have made sense to me to cut out JieT and PMAc (as known entities) in favor of Ogundele minutes.

i think this represents a mini-blunder by the Iowa coaching staff

Maybe but allowing Pmac to establish himself if CJF goes down again will certainly help his confidence.....

Ogundele is not going to play unless disaster strikes for Iowa this season.
how many minutes will Ogundele get versus Wisky?
i think we will see at least 1-2 people or maybe a few more beginning to see the value in playing Ogundele (and I hope there are a few on the staff Too)

My guess would be zero.

The value in playing Ogundele is it means we are winning by about 30 points.

What is the value in playing him minutes in a game that is still in doubt?

A. I would put forth that Ogundele wont lose the game upon playing 2 minutes in the 1h

B. Value would be game time experience prior to when Iowa needs him ( Garza and Keegan 2 1H fouls in BTT and NCAA)
