Good News for Southern Red States: Looks like there isn't a California "exodus" after all...

Census Bureau does collect the info, they don’t just to the decadal census.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates annual domestic migration primarily through the American Community Survey (ACS) and the Current Population Survey (CPS) Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC). These surveys ask individuals about their residence one year prior, allowing the Census Bureau to track the movement of people within the United States

You’re mistaken, they conduct more frequent (monthly) surveys and produce estimates, which are different from the decadal headcount.
Well then, I guess I did not work for the actual census. It must have been some deep state organization that does triple background checks.

BTW, there’s a lot of bridges for sale.

But this is pretty much what I expected. Denial from those that were not actively involved nor had first hand knowledge.

It’s like when I tell people I worked at the Sunland Hospitals in FL, and they tell me what they think they know, as if it were fact.

I'm afraid you're making the assumption that the decadal headcount is all the Census Bureau does, and that's simply not true.

Who is denying what?
Are you denying the Census Bureau has this on their website?

The Current Population Survey (CPS), sponsored jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), is the primary source of labor force statistics for the population of the United States.
The Current Population Survey (CPS) is one of the oldest, largest, and most well-recognized surveys in the United States. It is immensely important, providing information on many of the things that define us as individuals and as a society – our work, our earnings, and our education.

In addition to being the primary source of monthly labor force statistics, the CPS is used to collect data for a variety of other studies that keep the nation informed of the economic and social well-being of its people. This is done by adding a set of supplemental questions to the monthly basic CPS questions. Supplemental inquiries vary month to month and cover a wide variety of topics such as child support, volunteerism, health insurance coverage, and school enrollment. Supplements are usually conducted annually or biannually, but the frequency and recurrence of a supplement depend completely on what best meets the needs of the supplement’s sponsor.

My office used to be next to that old Sunland building in Tallahassee. :)
I moved into the apartments (originally Victoria Grand) when they were first built after the land was purchased and they tore down that (spooky) building.

Was Sunland that creepy institution hospital that was near TMH?

Yes. When they connected Blairstone Rd to Centerville Rd they cut through that property, and straight through the building I worked in (roughly stood at the traffic light now on Blairstone/Phillips Rd). We got a new building down the street at the intersection of Phillips and Miccosukee (that was later sold to UF, but last time I drove to the hospital through there they had pulled their badging off the sign at the road, not sure if UF still owns it).

Back in 2002 when they wrapping up construction in the new building, I stopped there one night to setup a 5gal mini-reef I was going to have in my office. Parked under the covered main entrance, planning to take things into the back door that faces the woods. When I popped the back of my car I heard a voice shout from a distance. My head turned to the sound and I could see a light, as if someone was pointing a flashlight at me from 100 yards away on the third floor of the hospital. They shouted something else, but I couldn't make it out, assumed they were calling to someone with them. I realized in that moment (9PM) that I presently had a lot of good options to get home safe and sound, but if I went into the building there was no telling what my options would be when I came back out the back door, opposite side from the road.
Easiest decision of my life was closing the hatch back, getting in my car, and driving away.
Could've been kids. Could have been transients. I didn't really care to find out.

They had to tent the building to gut it before they tore it down. Was full of asbestos.

Dad was 20 year USAF.
Paternal grandpa was WW2 marine and then had a career with the VA
Maternal grandfather was WW2 navy then mostly railroad career.
Cousin on my mom’s side was USAF briefly then worked federal civil until retirement a few years ago.

Just out of curiosity, how much have you been involved with the Current Population Survey conducted monthly by the U.S. Census Bureau?

My work is to supervise enumeration, not monthly surveys which are extremely limited.

The surveys are very broad and do not involve personal enumeration.

I’m not going to argue publicly about how all of this is done, nor the federal government’s way of doing things.

My family has been involved in government for a very long time, both military, elected and appointed officials., as well as lobbyists.

I am confident that my background and upbringing has educated me as to how the system works.
