Gophers Hawkeyes still strongly disagree about disputed fair catch

Still don’t understand not putting Copper in the wildcat for that possession.

Pretty much the same scenario at Kinnick last year. Only the replay idiot that wanted his 10 minutes of Fame to Fvck it up. Then, and only then, Fleck decided it was the “right” call.

The zebras on the field knew exactly what Cooper was doing and were cool with it but the chump monitoring calls on the field and doing nothing all day decided to make a name for himself.

Anyone know if the BIG replaced that idiot?
Replaced? The B1G has double, triple, and quadrupled down on the call. Even though everyone who wasn't a gopher or Hawkeye hater calling it a horrible call.

Guy probably got a bonus and promotion.

If hand movements on the field aren't distracting enough to get a referee to call a fair catch then it wasn't a fair catch signal. That is one call that should not be reviewable. It's still insane that they reviewed to see if he was in bounds, saw that he clearly was, so they went searching for some other way to negate the touchdown. Seriously, that judge needs to be investigated to see if he had money on the game or something.

I'm wondering when the fair catch thing became so difficult to call. At one time the hand needed to be extended "ABOVE" the head to be a fair catch. Not a real complex signal to show your intentions, or so it would seem to most people not named Ken Koester. Anyone receiving a punt that doesn't extend his hand above his head is a live target and needs to protect themselves from getting lit up.

Big Gopher fan up here thinks Iowa wins. Gophs pass defense is poor.
based on pj’s remarks i believe they have a AA type ballhawk at safety and with cade’s arm that’s worrisome. hope i’m wrong

My big problem with the invalid fair catch call is that punt returners do what Cooper did all the time and it doesn’t get called. I don’t remember if it was the same day or the following week where a return man from North Carolina did the exact same arm motion, caught the ball off a bounce, and returned it eleven yards. No one said a word about it. None of the players, no one in the booth, no one on the opposite sideline. The teams trotted out for the next series and that was it.

Or that it was not called on the field. What a sham.

This was the travesty. Ref tosses the flag as Coop begins to return it...OK. 10 minutes later after an unnecessary review for another reason. Bullshit. Whether the call was right or not, it was executed improperly.
