I was able to find a job doing a similar thing to what I was doing before with maybe a few added responsibilities.

Good news is I will be making 25% more than I was. And I won't have to worry about certain annoying tasks that I was at my previous job.

Bad news is I have to drive an hour each way to get to work and back.

Plus I get a cool sounding title. "Project manager" Previous company was smaller and we didn't really have titles.

I start Tuesday. He wanted Monday to I guess move some stuff and clear out an office for me.

Congrats and good luck!

Very happy for you man! Here is a virtual toast to you, I just signed a letter to become the Florida Manager and VP of a 700 person Engineering and Environmental consulting firm with very nice compensation package and bump. First two rounds on me!

Great news. Are you staying on the same time, or having to switch timezones with the move? I know you are right on the line.

Awesome. I guess you won’t be on here during the day much for a while…

Edit: I mean it is awesome you got a job. Not being on here is not necessarily what I meant, to be clear.

Congrats!

Project Managers are basically organizational micro-managers that make sure people are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

that's a lot of road time!

It probably sounds more awesome than it is. A lot of it is paperwork to keep the general contractors happy and the architects happy.

There might be some travel to job sites, job meetings etc.

Silver linings.

So this makes me feel really good. Another company I interviewed with called after I informed them that I took a job elsewhere called and asked what I was offered and they are going to see if they can give me something better.

I doubt they will the top end pay they were offering for the position was significantly lower than what I will be making at the job that I just accepted. So I told them they would need to "blow me away" with a number.

Only advantage of this other job is that it would be closer to where I live. Nothing else about it seems more appealing. But it makes me feel good.

I honestly hope they don't because I don't want the moral quandary of potentially calling back an employer I just took a job from and tell them I'm changing my mind. So I feel like the number they offered would have to be at least 25% higher than what I got offered. I don't think they are willing to pay that.

Good problem to have, tho.

You're in demand.

Wow this other company is blitzing me. Telling me they might be able to come up with a better offer next week.

I think the number would have to be significantly higher. Not just a little bit. I would feel terrible calling the company I was going to start with in a few days that I was changing my mind.
