Wow. Lived here in SoCal for 15 years now. Been to many Rose Bowl events and games and even filming TV and commercial spots there. This is by far the best info I have ever seen. Thanks a lot. Go Hawks!
Should not be much traffic until you get to Pasadena then there will be a LOT of traffic. I would leave by 8 only because you are driving far and there could be some hangups. Also you will have to add in the time it takes to get from your parking to the stadiumQuick question, getting to Barstow, CA at about 3 AM where I am gonna crash for a few hours before driving to pasadena in the morning.
Have parking reserved for me at the pasadena business park.
When would you leave (if you were me) in the morning. I don't care about tailgaiting and all that, but do want to get to the stadium plenty in advance.
says its about an hour 1/2 drive from Barstow to the rose bowl. That day will probably be longer I imagine.
Obviously want to catch on some sleep as much as possible.
When to leave? 8 or can i get away with 9?
Thanks
What section? We are between the 40's in row 46. Are seat backs random there or are they metal bleachers and only seat backs where normal season ticket holders have purchased them?
Not sure I understand the question. Are you planning to drive from the stadium to LAX at 4:00 on game day?I am coming from Las Vegas to the stadium on Thursday around 4pm, how long will it take me
to reach LAX from the stadium at that time previously mentioned? What also would be the best
route?
Not sure I understand the question. Are you planning to drive from the stadium to LAX at 4:00 on game day?
Okay. I know exactly where 5A is. It is just across the gully. I have attended some game day special group events there. I think that this is as I thought, an extension of the VIP section to accommodate all the people willing to pay more (it s farther than the VIP sections I get offered because of my seats so they may keep opening new VIP sections as demand increases).
It is pretty close if you are just walking straight from your car to the game and that is your only concern. However, if you are planning to attend the events area where all the booths, fans, and TV broadcasting are, then it is almost directly opposite on the other side of the stadium. I guess the question is what you plan on doing after you park and before you leave and what you hope to get out of upgraded parking.
If you want to tell me how much they want for the pass, I'll give you my opinion.
Okay, driving from the stadium to LAX at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, I would plan at least two hours. It is probably about 50 minutes with no traffic. However, on New Years Eve at 4:00, I am really not sure what traffic will be like so I would plan on giving as much time as possible in case there are traffic issues.on that Thursday around 4pm, how long and best route to take?
Okay, your seats will have proper seat backs, however the leg room will be tight.
5B is very good, and is even better than the VIP 5A section, IMO. If your seats are in the Club section, the gate nearest your parking lot will let you enter one hour before the rest of the stadium seat holders.RoseBowlSeats,
I also have a parking pass in Lot 5B. What time do you think we should arrive? Traffic as bad to get into this lot as well? Is this "closer to VIP" lot location?
Thanks
LOL - I am both LE and RoseBowlSeats. I get confused between my normal Rivals handle and my ticket selling handle. Thanks LE for the advice. Gonna be going on about 4/12 hours sleep that night. Almost better off just driving the whole way and sleeping in my car for a few hours?
Figure with a 16 year old tho, and a hotel only costing $40, a decent 3-4 hours to relax is better than nothing?

Traffic at the Rose Bowl is bad in EVERY section, including VIP areas. As for arrival time, it depends if you want to tailgate, visit the activity zone, or just walk straight into your seats. If you are going straight to your seats, I would plan on being in the Rose Bowl neighborhood at least two hours early (11:30). Back that time up depending on what else you will be doing.
You are welcome (RoseBowlSeats and LittleEmperor are one and the same).Little Emperor,
Thanks for the information. It really helps. We are planning on tailgating before the game. Any advice on accessing the lot from a certain direction? Will be coming in early (arrive 8am) from 210 headed west. Thanks again for the help.
Brad

Exit on Seco, turn left. After about a half mile you will see the Rose Bowl on your right. Keep going straight. They might try to make you turn right (on the east side of the stadium) - if they do, show them your parking pass because you need to go straight. Your parking lot will be on the right on the west side of the Rose Bowl. Traffic around the stadium should not be bad at 8:00 a.m. so I don't think you need to be too concerned - it should go smoothly for you.
Have a great time!
You may be interested in taking a Rose bowl tour. They usually offer them to visiting team fans and it is really nice - they go into the current locker rooms, the historic 1920's "Knute Rockne" locker room, the press box, walk on the field etc. There should be some Iowa fan tours this week. Thanks again for the info. It is much appreciated. First time to the Rose Bowl game. Have waited till Iowa made it back. Will be a great day. Go Hawks
I don't think there is a "best" one - all the exits will have a lot of congestion. Personally, I always take Seco. If your goal is to avoid the insane traffic, then go very early, and leave late. The directions on the general parking pass lists four differerent exits off the 210. Any suggestions on the best one to use?
Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (although it is likely to start 30 minutes later), so it would be smart to get in the stadium area before 10:30 a.m. at the VERY latest. If I decide to go, I will be there by 8:30 a.m. The way I look at it is that I would rather get there 2-3 hours early since there will be a lot to do and see before the game, than to be sitting in parking lot traffic at 1:25 p.m. and thinking I might miss kick off. If I am going to misjudge the timing, I would rather do it on giving myself too much time than too little. So what time does traffic start getting bad in the morning around the stadium?
That is a good (and tricky) question. The lot opens at 3:00 a.m. for parade parking. Cars have to be removed (or they will be towed) by 11:00 a.m. After 11:00 a.m. they open for stadium parking. If you want to park for both, then you have to buy a combo parking pass (for a whopping $80). They don't care if you have parade or game tickets - anyone can park there if they pay.RBS Maybe this has already been mentioned but how early does Parsons open? Can you park there early for the parade if you have game tickets?
When do they offer tours? How much are they? You may be interested in taking a Rose bowl tour. Not really. There shouldn't be much traffic until you get to Pasadena regardless of the route you take.Any suggestions on getting to and from the game from marina del Rey?
Well the key is to just leave really early. The closer it gets to parade time or game time the crazier it will get. Thanks for all of the great information. We are staying in Glendale and have parade tickets. Some of the sites say you have to be in your seats by 6:30. Not sure if that's true for all of the watching areas. We also have parking for one car through the University if Iowa's ticket office but we will have three cars.
1. When do you suggest we get to the parking lot if we plan to walk back to it to tailgate after the parade and before the game?
2. Will it be easy enough to get parking for the other two cars if we all arrive at the same time?
3. When should we leave Glendale to get to the parking lot on time?
Thanks! Hope your tickets sold!
Being a guy I am not an expert on this...LOL. Having said that, they seem to be running a REALLY tight ship for this game. Much more so that the UCLA games I attend. I have gotten several emails already about it from the Rose Bowl itself. My suspicion is that her purse will probably slip through since it is pretty close to what they want. Having said that, if it was me, I'd find something that conforms to what they have approved and not have to deal with it at the gate. If you get there, and they say no, then what are you going to do? They are also pushing for the use of clear bags.RoseBowlSeats, how strict are they on women's purses? Wife has a 5" by 7" purse. Our guide says 4 1/2 by 6 1/2. Do they measure them?
Thank you for all the great info!
$20. I think they will have scheduled public tours all week and I believe on the 2nd they have tours all day (at least that is how they did it last year). I know they are having some special tours for Stanford fans but have not heard anything about Iowa fans. Last year they offered several tours for the Michigan State fans, but they really came to the game in large numbers so there was quite a demand. When do they offer tours? How much are they?
My tickets will be available for pick up on game day at the StubHub booth at the Rose Bowl. I did this so that the buyer will KNOW they have valid tickets and are the ones they thought they were buying. They don't have to worry about meeting or buying from a stranger, or the tickets not being delivered on time, or getting to the stadium and finding out they have counterfeit tickets. If there is any kind of problem, the StubHub staff is there on site and ready to help.Under your tickets and some others on stubhub they state pickup as an option. Is this at the stadium? I might need a couple last minute tickets but am not sure yet.
You will have to walk or take the shuttle back to your car so that will take a little time as well. If it was me, I would walk back to your car, and leave. Traffic will be a little heavy but not nearly as crazy as departing from the stadium after the game. It shouldn't take too long to get on the 210 and the traffic will be a little heavy for the next 5-10 miles then it will be smooth sailing. On some days traffic to LV is very heavy (especially Fridays) but I don't know what it will be like on New Years Day. Probably very little traffic is my guess so you should be good. The question is what time the game actually ends. If it ends at say, 6:30 p.m., plus an hour to get to your car, plus another 4+ hours to get to LV, that is getting close to your departure time. Something to think about.RoseBowlSeats.
I had a quick question. A few of us decided last minute to make the trip. Actually flying in and out of Vegas. It appears to be about a 4 hour drive. We catch a Red-eye out of Vegas after the game (roughly 1AM Sat.). How is traffic after the game. Does it take a few hours to clear out of the lots? Just need to plan so we can make the trip back to Vegas. We got parking on 100 W. Walnut about 1.2 miles from stadium. Looks like easy access to the 210 but I assume heavy congestion after the game.
I think that by arriving that early, you should be okay. There will be a surge when the parking lots open at 4:00 a.m., and then it will slow until about 8/8:30 a.m. At 6:00 a.m., only Parking Lot H should be full. One last question: Live out in Thousand Oaks. Going to try and come around and come down the 210 to W. Mountain St. (Seco) exit. Want to park in Brookside Park or Arroyo Seco Park. I think they are General Parking and will fill up quick. Planning on getting there around 6am. My question is: Will the parking attendants make me take a right and head north without a parking pass? Because once they direct you north to the Golf Course, you are pretty much out of the loop. I've parked up there. Its no fun.
