Greg Gard goes on the Offensive, defending Brad Davison

I actually agree that that type of play happens on every possession and that it’s a touchy utilization of the hook and hold rule. Unfortunately for Brad, Greg, and Wisconsin fans, everybody knows that Davison makes these plays intentionally to draw fouls. Officials don’t take kindly to being made a mockery of and that’s what Brad gets. Don’t build a reputation and that shit won’t happen

In just a few minutes of game time, this guy pulled Keegan down to the floor from behind and then double-arm held his elbow. Then did the hook and hold flagrant that was called.

I think the flagrant that was called was a bit iffy, but I look at it as part make up call and part lifetime achievement award. If it quacks like a duck, then that duck is a dirty player.

Gard should be careful defending Davison. He may play his “ass” off, but it is obvious he is a dirty player. He has earned his reputation and has cost his team games. He cost his team the game last year in Iowa City with his cheap shot on Conner and today with his hold on Murray. His shit doesn’t work when they review everything and there are many camera angles. He is a dirty player. The sad thing is that he could be very good and valuable player if he would just play. There are many video clips of him trying to injure opponents. Gard has to defend his players but I am not sure this is the guy to to bat for.

Ugly game but a nice win!

If Davison stopped doing dirty shit maybe he would get character assassinated less.

The flagrant call was the second time he had hooked Keegan in like one minute of gametime. Literally a few plays before when Keegan got that huge put-back and-1, he ended up on the ground with Davison hooking his arm. Like it didn't even make since how or why he was grabbing Keegan's arm like that. Then he did the exact same thing two plays later and got called for it.

I don't feel sorry for him because not alot of other players do that. I don't see Iowa players do it on a consistent basis and I don't see most of our opponents do it on a consistent basis, which leads me to believe you can play basketball as a guard WITHOUT hooking peoples arms constantly.

well stated.

Yeah, why would Gard go into the gutter where Davison has been for a long time?

Gard is grasping at straws on the way down this spiral. Wisc fans none too pleased with him this year.

And remember, the administration didn’t really want him. Only when Bo pulled the surprise retirement to force their hand did he get the gig.

I didn't see any foul on Keegan and the only thing that sold the call was Davison pulling him down. If you don't think it is hook and hold, it has to at least be a common foul on Davison.

If the refs could take the foul off Keegan and just give a common foul to Davison, then
that would have been a fair outcome also.

Davison is always trying to get away with extra chit and him and Gard have to live with the scrutiny. They got away with it for two years when Davison was drawing 40 Plus
opponent charging calls per season on blatant flopping. The nut grabbing just got to be too much.
