How come the weather always sucks when we end up hosting visitors? Is it because we can’t have nice things?

I get it, he’s coming in from South Dakota so 20s is the norm, but would it kill the football gods to give us a 40/50 January weekend for once!!

Pretty sure we hosted the Rice OT during the freezing rain debacle a few weekends back.

Iowa hosting a key transfer/recruite OR a home basketball game are two surefire ways to guarantee $hitty weather!
They are from sdsu and midwest...weather means diddly

Iowa needs a floor general out on the field! I think MG fits the bill. If he can read defenses and counter it would be a huge difference in what we’ve been seeing. With his legs he can extend plays and drives as well! Iowas line needs to be serviceable and progress throughout the year. If and a big if they can sway this young man to play his 5th year it may be KFs last swing before retirement!

If He can lead Iowa to a good Offensive Season in the Shanahan offense He will be a 1st round pick and Him committing will make it much easier to land portal WRs and maybe His WR1 Wilde I would think, Iowa is a QB and real WR threat away from being a real problem on the offensive side.
I am totally shocked that we even got a visit, but it really is a big risk on his part to come here with the way our passing game has been the last 5 years. Considering he has rushed for over 1,700 yards in his career, we haven’t shown even with Sully that we are willing to run a lot of read option.

Apparently On3 has a 100% prediction for him to transfer.

Iowa has landed Gronowski & Wilde apparently.

Mark Gronowski On3 Prediction Tracker (Iowa 100%):

Teammate Griffin Wilde (WR) also reported on visit with Gronowski.

Griffin Wilde On3 Prediction Tracker (EDIT: Northwestern commit):

No crystal balls from 247 on either of them yet:

Well as long as you've heard of them, that's all that matters, but they definitely weren't on ISU's schedule for football or basketball around the time of covid.............
Yeah I guess it was 2018, not Covid year. The Clowns early season game against SDSU was cancelled due to inclement weather. They added Incarnate Word to the schedule for a season ending game to replace the cancelled game. IW had to cancel that one because they made the FCS playoffs, so the Clowns scrambled and found Drake to play them. Drake damn near beat them that day.

They did. For not a late holding call, Drake probably wins that game.

It was a sloppy muddy mess.

No… we need a dual threat and he’s definitely not that… he will end up getting sacked a million times behind the line Iowa has… if you have a stellar line then ok but when you have a SIV of a line it’s not going to work.. you need someone who can get out of the pocket fast and he’s definitely not that… he’s a pocket passer at best
The guy has almost 1,800 yds rushing and 10,000 yds passing in his career. Not sure what your definition of dual threat is.

The Oline was good this year.
Ya, I don’t understand this narrative that the Oline sucked. #1 rushing offense and were too 20 in the country in fewest sacks allowed. They gave up basically 1 sack per game I believe..
Good at run blocking such that they very often didn't need to pass the ball much. I have no reason to believe run blocking won't still be effective next year, but IMO the jury is still out on how functional the OL will allow the passing game to be.

So he is deciding on the NFL draft or transferring to another school. He is projected mid to late round for the draft. So lets say it is 5-6 round he would get drafted. What type of money does a 5-6 round QB get? What do you think, realistically, he would get as a transfer?

I am sure all of this is weighing in on his decision.

I’m happy to see us take a shot but just a reminder, he’s played in kinnick once before. 10/26 for 87 yards and 10 carries for -21 yards. Yes, I know this was 2 years ago but just a reminder, his history is against FCS talent.
You mean the game against an ELITE defense in his first game back from an ACL tear?? Also, how did our offense/QB do in that game against FCS talent?

Thats not true

Yup, my bad as I stated I didn’t think he had that many rushing yards holy crap… he’s definitely legit as they come … I was premature on stating what I said and didn’t realize the kid can actually run and throw .. he’s a good one and hope we can land him - totally my bad …
It happens….all good
