Well, that is rather disappointing, but a lot of folks called that one earlier in the year. Evidently, she did not see a future with the Hawks. Maybe that means Jada Williams visit went very well?
I think this won’t necessarily hurt as much next year if good portal additions can be made. However, it might hurt more in the long run if she develops like I believe she eventually will.
Thanks dad. He said Iowa was the only big team to offer her. She has an exaggerated sense of herself.
Could be as simple as she demanded to start next year, and JJ said not going to happen. Her father was way too involved IMO.

We will be okay. Seemed to be a bit of a distraction. I don't think she can play point and be a scorer, at least the scorer that she wants to be, and she is too short for the 2 position, IMO.

You can't keep everyone happy. She really struggled down the stretch. I think that's a bad move for her but maybe her and Jan had a talk and didn't see eye to eye. Happens. I'm not sure what position she came here for, whether it was as a pt or shooting guard, maybe a bit of both, and maybe Williams is coming in and Guyton wants to play ( or start ) next year and was told that wasn't guaranteed. I also think her dad was to involved, was on Twitter a lot and then would delete many of his posts, which is a bad sign. Onward and upward.

No worries about that with so many good players in the portal.

I said months ago I didn't like how her dad was questioning Jan.
Many want to play for Iowa. Jan and the staff need to make the right decisions.
Considering there's going to be one thousand players in the portal I don't think that will be a problem replacing her 4 pts and 2 turnovers a game. She's making a mistake.
I like her, but surprised she only averaged two turnovers. It seemed like she turned it over 9 out of 10 drives to the paint.
Perhaps this is an indication Iowa is looking good for Jada Williams? Or at the very least that JJ indicated to Guyton they were seeking a starting PG in the portal.
Guyton likely wanted more minutes and/or to start. If Iowa gets Williams or someone similar to play with Deal, then Guyton would only be getting marginally more minutes next year. It stinks cause she could be really good. But hey, some kids want to show they have it right away. Can't always blame them.

Yep. Said earlier, parents or family commenting on social media is almost always going to end badly. Wherever she goes, if she struggles it will be the same deal, and Pops is doing his daughter a disservice. So does she play on the Brazilian national team coming up in a few weeks against the Fever? Hawks fans, do this right and don't show your ass to the girl if she plays. Its her loss....
This could be good; now gives us the opportunity to perhaps add a proven scorer like the BYU or Utah players AND still add a bigger player who can rebound.

Maybe everyone should hold off on getting all over her for transferring. Maybe JJ and her had a discussion and JJ said she needed another year of developing and that is why they are trying to bring in another PG. She would have to be a backup and continue to develop. She wants to play, and I am sure her dad did not help in this situation
there was a stretch in January where it looked like she was starting to put things together, and then the wheels fell off in Feb/Mar

I am a little bummed to hear this news, but I agree with the above. Hopefully she finds what she is looking for, but I don't see this as a catastrophe or anything.
I’m not going to research it again but IIRC Guyton went 1-11 from the floor, 0-6 3Pt FGA, zero assists, and 4 TOs in the two NCAAT games.
I hate to say it because I believe she does have potential and could have possibly developed into a Gabbie Marshall role but that is not a given either. Her production is easily replaceable, to say the least.
She may have, just looked at a portal tracker and does not show anything. Not sure. I know USC and JuJu were talking to her.

If we're just talking about the PG position only, that works until you realize Jada Williams has 2 years left. So Guyton would call BS then. However, it is possible for both Guyton and Williams to play the 2.

Could be, I really do not know. Having two good PG does not hurt. Depends on the players, one does not start and how many minutes do they each get. It is just not the same with the portal and NIL now available.

Sometimes you can get a sense of where a player is at by watching them on the bench.
It seemed like she was often the last player out to congratulate teammates when the other team called a timeout and the rest of the bench was going crazy. From the outside looking in, didn't seem like a we>me player. When parents are feeding you poison, it's hard to not get sick. If AJ was questioning Jan in public, you can only imagine what those conversations were like with his daughter in private.
Wish her the best. But we definitely need another ball handler and more quickness.
