That doesn't explain her lack of offers, only her lack of options to decommit. She got injured at the end of her senior year.AJ said that options were limited because of her injury.

It's all love, man. Sometimes we all need a light shone on us. It has happened to me on here many times, and I just tried to appreciate it and keep on keeping on.I guess I’m a humongous piece of shit! Sorry guys!!
I have no idea how anyone could see race in that exchange. Says way more about you than it does about AJ.
Because the next part says yes, but they are over it” and if they really honestly thought there was a racial context, I sincerely doubt they’d be over it…🤷♂️
I mean did you read the tweet exchange? One guy said that he has “a theory” about why Guyton isn’t getting the ball but he doesn’t feel comfortable saying it on dads Twitter feed.
Dad then responds that he agrees with the “theory” and that it is “very disappointing”.
I mean …if the “theory” was simply that the coaches don’t trust her, why wouldn’t the dude be comfortable saying it online?
I know it’s speculative, but I really don’t think I’m going completely crazy here
It is definitely an issue on both sides. I agree that racism is pervasive and that coded language is often used, which you are right, I will call out. I did not see any coded language in that message. But you are right, I dropped the "says more about you" line, which is chickenshit. That was my bad. Sorry for that, @Fran-Con-2.Come on, dude, let’s be fair here. You can’t critique Angel Reeses on any social media platform without immediately being called a racist. Race is everywhere, people have a tendency to see it in everything, and I’m not picking on you when I say you are one of them. I feel like we have reached enough of a detente to appeal to your human nature & remind you we have to forcibly tell ourselves to look at things open mindedly and with clear vision.
I’m not surprised he jumped to that conclusion but like you I’m also just as certain it has nothing to do with race🤷♂️
This might be the best apology I have ever seen on this forum. Very well done!It is definitely an issue on both sides. I guess the Clark/Reese debate and recent Iowa football discrimination fallout has primed me to to assume the worst when people take cryptic shots at Iowa on the Internet. It is definitely an issue on both sides. Right, and Iowa has won 7 of their last 9 since the losing streak with losses to UCLA t home and OSU on the road. It's working.
7. That paragraph is exactly how I feel. I really couldn't care less what he (AJ) thinks or says. It's like Tom Brands said several years ago, and I don't remember now if it was concerning Iowa FB BB or Wrestling athletes, or even a coach, (paraphrasing) If they don't want to be here, get the hell out.Yeah, I gotta be honest with you. I really don’t give a shit anymore. @kceasthawk who I think is a marvelous poster has talked about Iowa needing to retain people. But I’m “over” parents making power plays on social media.
Hell I’m shocked even our fans who are constantly up in arms about who’s playing are “OK” with parents doing this kind of stuff and pretending like that’s what Iowa deserves….
I don’t know what people are watching, but let’s just have a numerological breakdown..,
1) AG came in rehabbing…
2) she started getting minutes…
3) she got even more minutes & better & better.
4) got great publicity by Coach Jan.
5) the “super fans” wanted her to get the keys to the offense..
6) team loses five games in a row. Staff was searching for the right lineup, she started fading a little and losing Minutes…
7) and now here we are. Either be part of a team or get the hell out, that is honestly my feeling I don’t give a shit how good you are or aren’t. I had kids that played sports, quite frankly I had kids who played sports that should’ve likely started sooner than they did and I have had kids that played sports that even kind of got shit on. It’s a part of the process, get over yourself. If AJ‘s got a problem he should get his daughter and move on.
The truth is he’s making a power-play. That is a ridiculous and ignorant tweet. AJ Guyton certainly has enough resources and people around him to know how to get his daughter into the portal. I mean of all the ridiculous pandering gaslighting bullshit things to do. I would think any Iowa fan would be pissed about it….
This team has played with heart and passion and got better and better and here we are.
And while I’m beating a dead horse, this is the same kind of shit that goes along with our “super fans” constantly throwing a petty whiny bitch fit about the coaches, they all go hand-in-hand…
Nice work fellas !!

And also glad to see that Aaliyah is more mature than her dadReally stupid to completely write the off the kid because her dad made a couple tweets you didn't like in the heat of the moment. She can't control what he does and there's been nothing to indicate she's upset or looking to leave. Glad Jan is a lot more mature than some of you

I am not writing her off, and it will be up to any player to make those decisions. I want any player that comes to Iowa to stay here, regardless of their production. The portal has changed things for sure, and in my opinion not for the good.
Can we at least acknowledge that lots of fans post emotional stuff and then regret it, and within that frame there are player parents? It's perhaps just not a big deal. Fans being fans, dads being dads.
Let's be clear about one thing here. Nobody knows how Aaliyah feels, but most indications are that she is happy and wants to keep improving her play on the court. And really that's all that matters. Aaliyah might be very close with her parents, but she's also not her parents.
Also, with regard to the "theory" post: that wasn't AJ Guyton's post and really has nothing to do with him. That's a rando internet poster chirping. About what? Who knows, but it doesn't really matter.
Let's give player parents some grace.
Let's give fans some grace.
Let's try not to fuel internet speculation with unnecessary drama.
Not just a buffoon. How do his tweets affect the NIL profitability of his daughter? Do you guess his tweets make it easier or harder for her to sell product or get affiliations? Who would do that to their own daughter?Nobody in her wrote her off. It was a straight commentary towards her dad, and he asked for it by being a buffoon.

Same thought occurred to me. All idle speculation, hope she sticks around. Had some great moments this yearMy read of that seems to be that her dad is implying that she isn’t getting the ball due to racial issues.
Which would be completely asinine.
For the record, I stated earlier in the year when Papa Guyton posted something critical, that he should knock it off. As I said, I had two sons who played college bball, and I've never met a coach worth a shit who listens to what a players parents think when it comes to playing time, or how their utilized. He should know, as a former player, that this does not benefit his daughter in anyway...Yeah, I gotta be honest with you. I agree and as a parent of an ex-college athlete there are times you will be miffed at the coach but just be disgruntled and keep it to yourself IMO.For the record, I stated earlier in the year when Papa Guyton posted something critical, that he should knock it off. Why would he ask such a question when I'm sure he knows how?
God, i hope not. That didn't even occur to me.My read of that seems to be that her dad is implying that she isn’t getting the ball due to racial issues.

She didn’t look happy late in the UCLA game. It could totally be nothing at all but I noticed it.
Kinda noticed lack of enthusiasm as well, but could just be her personality. She didn’t look happy late in the UCLA game. It could totally be nothing at all but I noticed it.
