Has Patrick been officially ruled out for the remainder of the year?

I think so, but someone may have better info. What is the exact med reason or is it cancer related from his earlier diagnosis?

It's his meds that he needs to take from having cancer earlier. Is messing him up to where he can't get on the level he needs to be at to perform.

I haven't seen anything official on Pat but it looks to me like they have committed to not playing him and going after the medical red shirt,... I don't expect to see him back until next year..

I realize we're getting almost laughably low on players, but at this point, even if he's got his meds straightened out, why bother? Take the medical red shirt (or whichever version of RS makes more sense) and come back strong next year. Frankly he would likely struggle to get in to the "flow" that this team has generated, and we're only talking, what--8 games or so?

Not sure this season benefited him much from a bulking up standpoint.

He's never going to be more then 200 lbs during his time with Iowa and he's been practicing with the team every day. There's been lots of tall basketball players that couldn't put on weight. Patrick is just going to 1 of them. If it is related to his cancer he shouldn't even be practicing, but that's my opinion.
Let's face it, Iowa would have never been in position to make the NCAA tournament, if Jordan had not played the 10 games before he shut it down to have the additional surgery.
I'll give Fran credit for keeping this team together as long as he did but 1 player can't do it all and Garza is all the Iowa basketball team has right now. Without him, Iowa would be right there with Northwestern and Nebraska.
I've enjoyed the last 3 months but it's like so many other Fran teams that run out of gas come February, this year it's not entirely his fault but it happened just the same....

And without Tom Brady the Patriots wouldn't have won six Super Bowls. Your point?

Pat needed to bulk up a bit anyway,.. the extra year will be a good thing for him..

He may never add much bulk, but he should be able to get stronger. I hope he can get things straightened out so he can play again.

Do you know how a thyroid works?

Yes,.. and Patrick's thyroid doesn't work, so it's going to be hard for him to bulk up,.. However, I would assume that he chose to play this game with the intention of getting better at it,.. So right now he has an opportunity, over the next eight months, to prepare his body and his game as best he can for what's coming..
