The lids were on whichever basket Iowa was shooting at last night fellas …as simple as that.
All around terrible performance. Not really anything positive to say about it.Whats worse is they drilled us without their star player Awcheez for most of the game because of foul trouble. I still think we lose even if we hit 30 to 40 % of our open 3's.
Actually, that's a big part of it. They get away with a lot more slapping down on the arms at home resulting in turnoversSo is that just when NW is at home, because Rebraca had 20 against them in Iowa City.......
Are you referring to Chase Audige? He will be a B1G first team selection, everyone should know his name and game. Wish Iowa had him to go with Perk.Whats worse is they drilled us without their star player Awcheez for most of the game because of foul trouble. I still think we lose even if we hit 30 to 40 % of our open 3's.
This is correct. Pmac is not a BIG player. If he had half of the basketball IQ his brother had, he'd be serviceable. He's weak, he doesn't pay attention, he's out for his on offense and doesn't know how to play defense or rebound. If he's not making shots, he's a huge liability which is most games because he doesn't make shots either. It sucks to say those things because he's a good kid, it's just this level of basketball doesn't work for him. It's sad to say, but Patrick's game is just cringeworthy out there. Against Northwestern tonight, he was just 1-5 from the floor with 3 turnovers in 16 minutes of playing time. Worse yet, his uncoordinated, matador style defense was far worse than his out of control, brick laying, offense. It's cruel for Fran to keep sending him out there.
Unfortunately, the Northwestern game was not an isolated "bad game" for Patrick. 1-5 shooting is now his standard performance night in and night out. Against Illinois last week, he was 1-4 (0 rebounds) and couldn't guard to save his life. He hit just 1-9 against Nebraska. His 3-15 performance against EIU was a clinic on how not to play.
Patrick's best game since returning to the team was against Ohio State. There, he had 9 points, but again was just 1-5 from 3. The guy is a shell of the player he was expected to be in this, his 3rd year at Iowa coming in as a highly touted 4 star recruit.
Much is made of the problems with nepotism on the football team, but Fran continuing to play his son when he's clearly not ready for prime time, both physically and mentally, is not a good look for the program.
so your point is Patrick isn't bad because others were bad in this game as well?I'd say using stats from tonight is not the game to go on. Sandforts stats are about identical. Rebraca even had a crazy amount of turn overs. Not saying Pat is all conference but this game pretty much every player can be singled out.
NU doubled and tripled in the post constantly and Iowa made no adjustments! their ability toswing the ball to get better looks was awful...bad coaching, bad execution, bad game!Actually, that's a big part of it. They get away with a lot more slapping down on the arms at home resulting in turnovers
4 TOs for Filip.
I said on here after they beat Indiana that I hoped Fran was paying attention to how ineffective it will be to post on the block against them.
3 straight games now they've fouled the shit out of Edey, TJD and now Filip, all home games.
He hasn’t developed. That’s for sure. And it seems apparent that mental health has a lot to do with it. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.This is correct. Pmac is not a BIG player. So what you're saying is we should blame the officials?..............I got ya.Actually, that's a big part of it. They get away with a lot more slapping down on the arms at home resulting in turnovers

I like it. We need more people rallying to take real physical action towards officials to actually discourage them from being poor at their jobs.![]()
God bless Ulis but we desperately need a pt. guard.I think when Sandfort started downhill, some (most?) of it was he was rushing his shots. I remember several games where he was out at the line by himself and Ulis and Perkins would drive in to trouble and never even look at Sandfort. Connor did this a few times too. It was like they were shunning him. That would effect your thinking and cause you to jack up a shot whenever you touched the ball.
EDIT: Probably because PS was hot, but Dix actually looked for Sandfort against Michigan.
😅 The big ten fan bases need to come together and lauch an anti Courtney Green social media campaign. So what you're saying is we should blame the officials?..............I got ya.

Yea, I don’t know if they’re BETTER WITHOUT HIM but seems like 10-15 min a game should be his sweet spotI had this conversation this morning. At the very least, it's going to be awfully hard to justify Pmac getting his normal 25-30 minutes considering how the guys have come together during his absence.
If his old man was not the head coach he would be sitting on the bench until he picked up his defense, rebounding, and hustle. But of course, Dad is bailing him out which is sad for everyone. JMOYea, I don’t know if they’re BETTER WITHOUT HIM but seems like 10-15 min a game should be his sweet spot
Yes. There have been games he has played well. Definitely not at the level i expected from him this season or even close but I've seen players get it at different points in there career. His might be next season.so your point is Patrick isn't bad because others were bad in this game as well?
He is who he has always been on the court. Never seen anyone drive away from the hoop as much as he does.Something isn’t right with PM. I think taking the rest of the season off would be in his and the teams best interests.
I totally agree, he needs to be done in an IA uniform and should go to Upper Iowa. Dix needs every last one second of his minutes. I can't think of one redeeming aspect to his game at this point - literally not even one.GAG! I'm sorry, but Patrick is just gross out there and continues to regress each week.
Despite playing the majority of the 1st half and getting minutes in the 2nd half, Patrick finished the game shooting 0-3 with two air balls. Zero rebounds. That's right, a 6'9 junior coach's son played half the game yet couldn't manage a single shot or rebound? At least he's a lock down defender, right? HA! As my kid sister said, he looks like a cartoon bunny out there just hopping around without a care in the world.
At this point, Iowa is better off getting Mulvey or Ogundale or Dix minutes over Patrick. Whatever his mental issues are should not be the Iowa basketball team's problem. Enough of the McCaffery boys (Connor had another stellar 0-5 game) having free encouragement to shoot brick after air ball after brick.
Not really. Even falling off the cliff with production lately he's still the 4th leading scorer at 10.5 per game in 22.5 min per. His defense is bad but he was scoring points early in the season. He's lost right nowHe is who he has always been on the court. Never seen anyone drive away from the hoop as much as he does.
But the vast majority of his drives are at 45degree angles away from the basket. Never seen anything like it.Not really. Even falling off the cliff with production lately he's still the 4th leading scorer at 10.5 per game in 22.5 min per. His defense is bad but he was scoring points early in the season. Oh I agree that his shot selection is bad and he has always forced up a lot of junk but he could get hot briefly and still averaged 10.5 last year too. Now he can hardly contribute anything. Something is going on, I doubt his anxiety is much better... I bet he just missed playing and his dad missed having him out there. But the vast majority of his drives are at 45degree angles away from the basket. Never seen anything like it.
Last ten games 4.9 pts, 0.5 off/1.4 d rbs., 27.5% fg, around 19 minutes pg. Who knows how many points his D is giving up. Not really contributing much to the cause. Not really. Even falling off the cliff with production lately he's still the 4th leading scorer at 10.5 per game in 22.5 min per. His defense is bad but he was scoring points early in the season. Spot on. He had 0 pts and 0 REB in 18+ minutes.....and he's 6'-9".........Someone earlier described his actions as "loafing" which is a perfect description of how he plays.....I also found it amusing he was wearing knee pads. I think we could count on one hand the number of times we've seen him dive for a loose ball.....Wish him the best, but his return and number of minutes played since has hurt the team.....This is correct. You just keep ramping up the dumb every time I can’t think you can get dumber.GAG! I'm sorry, but Patrick is just gross out there and continues to regress each week.

Improvement, there's room for more.3-7 from (42.8%) from the floor, including one of the 5 daggers in the last minute or so. Four boards, an assist and a steal, one TO in 23 min.
Not exactly filling up the stat sheet but not bad.
Digging hard for negatives when these last two wins were two of the best of the season….what a miserable person. Pissed because the Hawks win and hate the coach so bad you have to pick on his son who’s fought cancer and still obviously dealing with the issues of having his thyroid destroyed???, wowJust when you thought Patrick couldn't regress any further, Bambi plays like he did vs. Indiana. Despite his well documented struggles at all facets of the game, Fran still played the guy 16 minutes (as many as Ulis and 12 mins more than Dix)...and his stat line was 3 turnovers, 0 rebounds, and 2 points...on a wide open layup where he travelled but it wasn't called. His defense was just abysmal.
Every time he gets the ball now he jump stops (flaring out the knee pads) then turns his back to the basket and gets swarmed because he has nowhere to go with it.
I never thought I'd say this, but Patrick has gone from decent Big 10 starter to less deserving of playing time than Mulvey/Ogundale/walk ons. The Hawks need to make the adjustment once and for all...they're not going to hit 57% from 3 once the games really start to count.
It would be nice if Fran would've gotten a 5 in the portal but that would take minutes from Conner. Big surprise he can't get assists in a game where he would have to actually drive and set guys up. He hangs out on the perimeter making risk free passes that result in Assists when we're hitting our shots. He is awful when we aren't hitting shots and against almost all NCAA tourney caliber teams.

By your logic, all millionaire kids who battled cancer as teens deserve Big 10 college basketball playing time over more deserving players. Not based on ability but on sympathy. Makes perfect sense.Digging hard for negatives when these last two wins were two of the best of the season….what a miserable person. Face it, Fran’s good at what he does and you suck at whatever it is you’re trying to do.
The sheer arrogance and ignorance to assume that a person's wealth would matter when considering their child's suffering from cancer is just astoundingly cruel.By your logic, all millionaire kids who battled cancer as teens deserve Big 10 college basketball playing time over more deserving players. What if he is dealing with the symptoms of his physical condition?....that the doctors have said that he can play?.....and he is a talented kid who is just limited in the amount of time he plays? Without him we don't have that incredible comeback against MSU...doesn't happen.IF PM is ill, he should not be playing. It is not fair to the team. JMO
