Might as well set the story straight.

Last week I scheduled an interview with Justin to talk about a completely different story I wanted to write on him. Literally a half hour before our call, Lee and Teasdale committed, and when you are on the phone with a wrestler who is excited that the #1 wrestler in his grade committed to the same school, I didn't feel it was out of line to ask him a few questions about the new commits before heading into what we had planned to discuss.

Since Jason and I have talked at various times since he has committed, I felt comfortable sending him a message and telling him that I was going to write the above article, and would love his comments if he was interested. He was.

Gavin looks like he's as big if not bigger than Spencer, especially in the lower body. I know another poster (different thread, non-Iowa fan I believe) felt Gavin was still pretty small and didn't think he could or would ever out grow Lee or any of the potential 25/33 pounders we have coming in.

Even if they were to be competing over the same spot (and I doubt they will be), something tells me that the 3X Cal state champ isn't ready to concede anything to the boys from PA. Just a hunch.

Man those two are machines! Also, I think that Teesdale looks pretty clearly thicker than Lee. Maybe a bit taller as well. I doubt they end up butting heads @ 125. Now 133 or 141 might be in more question, but we have a few years to see how it pans out...

I don't have the best eye sight, but Gavin seems to have a completely different frame than Spencer. Spencer even mentions his parents being "small" and someone else said Gavin's dad is not necessarily a small guy. They just seem to have different builds. Time will tell, but when a Soph looks like that compared to a Junior, i don't think it is crazy to think he will be bigger than Spencer. How much bigger? That's anyones guess.

Pretty awesome video on flo showing Spencer Lee's awards and taking a tour of his basement with Teasdale. Sounds like they're best of friends but it seems like their decisions were independent of each other. Teasdale actually says he was the first to say he was going to commit.

Pretty fun to watch those two drill against the backdrop of the other kids in the room. Lee and Teasdale get in six reps for every one by the kids behind them.

I understand outsiders trying to manufacture trouble, but I think these guys see the abundance of talent as an opportunity to be part of something really good. they are going to write their own chapter in the history of a program with long history of excellence. with regular redshirts, Olympic redshirts, grade differences and injuries and also growing to different weight classes things will work themselves out. I do worry about wagner, stickley and a guy I like a lot rathbun. I would hate for these guys to get lost in the shuffle.man it seems we've been waiting forever for the 2 jays , it has been easier considering we have gman and cory clark .

Lee looks a bit leaner as well. Teasdale looks like what you would expect a sophomore to look like, a kid. He's gonna grow. Spencer speaks to the fact that his parents are small in stature and hopes he grows but isn't counting on it. Eyeball test (and things can change) says Spencer is a 125lb lifer while Gavin is looking like 133-141. I was curious what weights all our recruits currently in HS will be at next year.

CP said today that Gavin weighs more than Lee right now. I think Gavin was a big 113 and Lee was a small 120. Soriano wrestled up a bit his last couple of years, trying to position himself for college. I think Lee might have done the same thing.

Of course, as you say, we could be two years away from Lee wrestling Varsity and three years away for Gavin. A lot can happen.

Gavin did say he pictures himself 133/141, fwiw.
