That was the score of the men’s game from last nightSounds like the score of Iowa Maryland last year, so maybe they just looked at the score and filed it without looking at the details

All the more opportunity for high quality wins. We didn't get many (any?) in the non-conference.It will make or break time for Lady Hawks. They certainly got the raw end of the schedule since they only play Illinois, WIsconsin, Purdue, Penn St and Rutgers once.
Lisa indicated in an interview with Pat H. on Friday that it didn’t look promising Warnock would be ready for the Monday game with Maryland. Not a good Karma year for the Hawks.

Rebounding is definitely what worries me. I want to see Syd get some nice minutes for her rebounding ability.I still think Maryland is a beatable team with McKenna out. Rebounding is going to be the key.
She didn't play against Wisconsin, but was listed as day-to-day. I'll guess that she plays, but isn't 100%.Is Owusu still out for Maryland? That will have a BIG impact.
Did you play for the Estherville midgets?Ah so you were a ... wait for it ... undersized post?
As long as Tomi and Kiley continue stepping up.I still think Maryland is a beatable team with McKenna out. Rebounding is going to be the key.
Not sure. We was out of her boot for the Minnesota game, but didn’t go through warmups. I’ll get there early tonight and find out the injury news. What is Ediger's status?
Hopefully Carver can make a big difference (as it did in '19 and '20). Her Hoop Stats gives Iowa a 50.8% chance to win in Carver, versus 41.1% on a neutral floor, and 32% at Maryland. Maryland boat raced Iowa both times last year (both away from Carver). Hoping for a good game tonight.Going to need the intangibles tonight - a big, loud home crowd. . . .
I'm seriously wondering if the team is better off if Monika decides to move on after this season. We'll miss her offense, but she kills our defense and is arguably the biggest reason for our constant rebounding deficits. This was not a bad loss for us but we are in desperate need of some good wins. I love Monika but all she can do is score with limited range. That's it.
The Iowa coaches seemed to have forgotten that Maryland's American point guard was hurt. They don't have a legit point guard! Why not put pressure on their ball handlers from the start?I don't know what to say at this point. Against Michigan and Maryland now for at least a 15 minute stretch we've seen Iowa play what I would describe as good defense. Not passable. No good for Iowa. Legitimately good defense. Why does the team have to be down 20 to give that kind of defensive effort?
If the team gave that kind of defensive effort consistently throughout a game, we would easily have 3-4 more wins this season. Do the players and coaches not see that? Do they not care?
We just do not play good at home anymore.I know now why Iowa plays better on the road. The players don't like the home basket. Everybody missed layups, Feuerbach and Taiwo didn't want to shoot 3-pointers, Clark missed shots left and right. Only player that didn't hesitate to shoot was Affolter and she missed the 3 badly. Had she made that 3, it might have turned the game around.
These past two seasons Iowa has tried playing m2m against Maryland in order to defend the 3 point line. But tonight, not having McKenna Warnock available (nor any of our other PFs) created huge mismatches at the 3 and 4 in terms of the height differential. So Maryland would clear out the baseline, post up whoever had the mismatch, and Iowa kept getting burned. Iowa switched to an extended 2-3 zone in the 3Q, which allowed us to string together enough stops to cut the lead to 5. But when Maryland figured that out, we tried switching back to m2m, but by that point the game was over.I don't know what to say at this point. I also agree with this. We are not a ball pressure team but in the stretches where we commit to this, we usually go on a run. Would like to see us mix this in earlier in lots of games. I don't think it would work against Indiana because they have three good ballhandlers, but against Maryland (without Owusu) and Michigan, definitely. The Iowa coaches seemed to have forgotten that Maryland's American point guard was hurt. They don't have a legit point guard! Why not put pressure on their ball handlers from the start?
Agree with this as well. Monika usually has a great first half because we are able to catch defenses off guard with just how effective the lob pass is into her. But once good teams recognize that and adjust by having the help side cheat over, continually waiting for Monika to fight for position just slows the offense down so much. O'Grady had a fantastic 4Q today -- she was actually giving us something on defense and on the glass. We should have trusted her to finish out the game. Yeah it's a bit of a gamble, going with the freshman, but it was just not going to work with Monika in there tonight, so why not.I'm seriously wondering if the team is better off if Monika decides to move on after this season. We'll miss her offense, but she kills our defense and is arguably the biggest reason for our constant rebounding deficits.
Plus if she plays next season, O'Grady and Goodman won't get to develop as much over the course of the year because they'll only get a fraction of the minutes they would without Monika.
Only bad thing is from what people here are saying, it's sounding like Monika is going to stay another year. Sure we'll miss her offense but it's nothing that Addi and Sharon can't handle. Addi was 4-5 tonight with 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block in 14 minutes of play.I'm seriously wondering if the team is better off if Monika decides to move on after this season. We'll miss her offense, but she kills our defense and is arguably the biggest reason for our constant rebounding deficits.

This is why I really don't care if she comes back or not. Just as soon she moves on.I'm seriously wondering if the team is better off if Monika decides to move on after this season. Too much pressure to win at home, imo. A lot more freedom on another team’s home court.I know now why Iowa plays better on the road. The players don't like the home basket. Other than last season, we're usually pretty good at home. At this point, I would like us to get a #5 seed in the NCAA tourney because it's obvious the pressure at home gets to us.Too much pressure to win at home, imo. A lot more freedom on another team’s home court.
Freedom = not feeling pressur, in case that wasn’t clear.Too much pressure to win at home, imo. A lot more freedom on another team’s home court.
I'd rather be a 6 seed, I think. Not sure there's a huge difference between 3 and 4 seeds this year, but I think there's a big difference between a 1 and 2 seed if we were to get to the Sweet 16.Other than last season, we're usually pretty good at home. My problem with the 3 seeds this year is that’s likely where UConn will end up. If they get healthy by the time the tourney comes around and we happen to meet them again. Sweet 16 is a lost cause.I'd rather be a 6 seed, I think.
