Ayala’s redshirt will be pulled and Minnesota will not send out McKee to save him from the L and protect his seed.
Are you implying that Eggum would stoop so low as to "duck" a match?Ayala’s redshirt will be pulled and Minnesota will not send out McKee to save him from the L and protect his seed.
If Eggum thinks they have a shot of winning this dual they will. But then again, it's 2022 and the mindset has changed dramatically over time. Pitch counts and seed protection everywhere you look. Unfortunately IMO.Ayala’s redshirt will be pulled and Minnesota will not send out McKee to save him from the L and protect his seed.
That's why I think we see Kem at least weigh in. That would force Eggs to make a decision first regarding ducking DA.If Eggum thinks they have a shot of winning this dual they will. He might be a true freshman from an eligibility standpoint but he was in the 2020 class - so this is his second year at UM. Or so I thought. And I understand DeSanto is a much more accomplished wrestler, but Nagao's style might frustrate him. And, I am wasn't saying that because he is a world jiujitzu medalist he is good on the mat, I'm saying he is good on the mat and can scramble and likes to hang on ankles .... in response to the anecdotal story above about a world medalist who was horrible on the mat.Assuming you mean Nagao who just took 2nd at the scuffle, he’s a true freshman and I don’t think they pull his shirt this year.

@artradley had Siebrecht in. is that for sure or speculation? i haven't heard.
Sitting McKee to protect seed would be silly for a number of reasons, but the notion that only schools that are involved in the team race should be worried about their seeds at big tens is not one of them. Only two teams are truly “in” the team race this year, but I guarantee every school is concerned about their seeds at big tens. He’s also obviously more than capable of AA’ing.Protect what seed and why? If he’s the 3 or the 4 seed at Big 10s…who cares? Not like they are in the team race. And he’s not ranked at AA level so there’s nothing to protect there, either.

My bad, I missed your main point then. I thought I covered everything in your message.Wasn't really the main point but thanks.

you might be right but in my opinion being opposite suriano would be an advantage at big tens. given how Ayala has closed the gap and really should have won the last match, a loss friday would make that less likely.Protect what seed and why? The question to me is does Nicky wrestle enough matches to garner the top seed at B1Gs?you might be right but in my opinion being opposite suriano would be an advantage at big tens. given how Ayala has closed the gap and really should have won the last match, a loss friday would make that less likely.
time will tell.
While I'm sure there are other advantages to being a world class Jiu-Jitsu player, many of the techniques are done from being on your back. Not exactly a good place to be for a folk style wrestler. He might be a true freshman from an eligibility standpoint but he was in the 2020 class - so this is his second year at UM. Or so I thought. Desanto probably not scurrd of the ju ju boy. More wondering if he is going to stay in the center for short light work or if he will do the ju ju dance on the edge and make Desanto chase him down.Nagao “grey shirted” last year and I believe stayed home in California. Scuffle was his first time down at 133. Looked much better suited for that, but again, I doubt his shirt is pulled this year.
When do the match notes that show the presumed line-ups usually come out?

So Ayala is ducking McKee per the many posts on the subject.Ybarra is going on Friday.
Just leaving Ayala off the probables so McKee shows up.So Ayala is ducking McKee per the many posts on the subject.
Closer for sure, jammen can even find a path to victory.Ybarra gonna get stuck if true.
This dual will be much closer than anyone thought a month ago.
Well, I couldn't force myself to Like your post, but must admit it was well played. So Ayala is ducking McKee per the many posts on the subject.
Ybarra's problem in what little we've seen is "waiting for things to develop". His resume coming into the Program is really good. Does he have another gear we haven't seen? If so, he better get it going, and quickly.Closer for sure, jammen can even find a path to victory.
I wasn't really sure the coaches are planning on pulling Ayala's shirt, at least not till they have to. I think Drake is the more college comp ready ATM, but Ybarra may just need a bit of time to adjust....He's a true true true fresh right now correct? He's won as many AZ titles (3) as Brandon Courtney, and this may be his only shot starting so they may be waiting to see how things develop.
100% this ^^^^ you’d think all these wrestlers were pitching nine innings every fifth day.If Eggum thinks they have a shot of winning this dual they will. But then again, it's 2022 and the mindset has changed dramatically over time. Pitch counts and seed protection everywhere you look. Unfortunately IMO.
