I can only speak from hearsay, but according to Mark Johnson, Ramos went to Iowa for 2%. Either I misunderstood or he was almost a walk on. Both are equally possible.

No way! He was more like 50%. He had a full ride to okie state I think he said but so did Morrison. They signed Morrison.

I think with PSU and the rumors of camp/club money, the schollies are only 1-2 years. Then it's up to the wrestler to perform and gets cash to pay his way. The key thing is Schollies are a one year contract. I read a lot how the PSU guys were giving up money to get more guys in the room. Not sure what they're doing is illegal, but not ethical in Tom's eyes.

So, my opinion with no inside knowledge at all, Cael gives a scholly full/half (whatever it may be, but more than most schools offer) right out of the gate and they've got 1-2 years of that amount. Then once a starter/AA/NC they get certain amounts of camp money. If NC it is more than a full ride and less for on down. If not a starter they aren't on scholly anymore.

I think this is partly why Suriano wanted to leave as well as why PSU ended up letting him. Since he was hurt he was only getting starter money after getting a full ride scholly.

Scholarships are guaranteed, and would have to be voluntarily given up by the wrestler. I believe this is a B1G rule if not a NCAA rule.

How’d Gable get so many studs for cheap? Guys willing to sit the bench when they could go start at other programs? Winning gets people to do crazy things.

Like I said; they get them academic money, a little athletic money, and camp money. We can do the same exact thing.
And we should do it instead of bitching about it. It doesn’t sound unethical to me.

Is an athletic scholarship guaranteed for four years?

At a minimum, an athletic scholarship must be a one academic year agreement. In Division I, institutions are permitted to offer multiyear scholarships. Athletic scholarships may be renewed and the school must notify the student-athlete in writing by July 1 whether the athletic scholarship will be renewed for the next academic year. Individual schools have appeal policies for scholarships that are reduced or not renewed. In most cases, the coach decides who gets a scholarship, what it covers and whether it will be renewed.

“Scholarships will be "neither reduced nor cancelled" as long as athletes maintain good standing in school, within the athletic department and in the community.“

NO

In sports such as wrestling, schollies are year to year, and if you get 0.25 of an athletic scholarship one year, you can get .75 of one the next, and vice versa. The articles quoted in this thread pertain to basketball and football.

Most D1 wrestling coaches are upfront and lay out how the scholarship will be for the 4 or 5 years the athlete is in the program. They don't tell them we'll give you 75% and then after the first year pull them in and say by the way next year you are only getting 25%. But yes, the scholarship whether full or partial can be different every year, but the wrestler should know what each year will look like and the coaches I know stand by it.

No one cares about your middle class background, but thanks for the tidbit Oprah.

If no one cares then no one should bring up generalized financial background statements. Sorry my comments went against your agenda but please try not acting like a snowflake next time, princess.

We asked him to hold off for a day or two. We're still trying to come up with the last $10,000. Will advise.

Doubt that as it wouldn’t take a day to come up with the $10,000. I heard the the NLWC and the Penn State WC each keep a cool mil in petty cash on hand for recruiting.

So was Suriano's scholarship this year affected by him getting injured last year and not placing at NCAAs? Did that have anything to do with the rift b/t him and PSU?

fake news
Will big tens be set up similar to super 32 and other events on arena? I know the finals will be on big 10 network, but everything else? For instance, being able to pull up individual matches in the brackets? I Really like the setup of flo arena.... Wish other things were easier to find on the site though.... For instance if I wanted to pull up all the frl's or any other reoccurring show, they should have their own tab and not have to filter through everything. It's hard to find what you want or are looking for... Great content, it just needs to be displayed better.
