How are we ho humming this grotesquely corrupt, literal joke of a 2nd Trump "Presidency"

I don't doubt you're correct when you describe how people feel. I'm saying those feelings are misleading and largely seem to come from a time that never really existed. It speaks more to how/why/where we seem to be choosing to inform ourselves. Just like their Trump daddy, most people that remember better times under his watch probably aren't drilling into the realities of the numbers.

That's just my observation, but I feel pretty confident considering how many times I've read about how it's good policy to run the world's largest macro-economy like a business or household. No matter how you slice it, it's a vast over-distillation that is evident in Trump and his supports basic misunderstanding of how tariffs function.
I'm not sure you're getting the point I'm making.

I'm not saying Trump deserves credit. I am saying it's probably faulty thinking that much of our electorate possesses that gives credit where it isn't due. It has been like this forever. Trump just lucked out. Ultimately it's just stupid luck of association. (or not)

I do think there are real numbers to support Trump times being better. However.

Take for example the below:

Or inflation itself; it's not like people celebrate the soft landing we pulled off. Inflation jacked food prices up and then rate of increase slowed drastically. But they still remember that eggs were a buck cheaper under the Trump regime.

It's stuff that basic.

Because of the Obama economy. 😆

I'm not disagreeing just adding, that you couldn't even get eggs for a chunk of his presidency.

Yeah fair point. The end of his presidency, from what... Jan 2020 to through the election. All I can figure out is that it didn't leave enough "stink" on him compared to what Biden had to endure. (if we're just looking at economic perception)

How much of that can be chalked up to short term memory, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately? I dunno.

Trump did have at least 2 years head start in ability to bitch about the Biden economy before Harris entered the ring. Big advantage ther.e

I'm at risk of offending people by pointing out ignorance and potentially spurring a 30 year GOP lock on government, but it's because most people don't know how the government works or what is going on.

(For anyone that actually does get offended, I was a joking. Like what Burt Kriescher pretends to do for a living)

Why do you keep giving Trump a pass for how horrendous he was during a pandemic.
Chis, you are the least objective person on this board. Nothing Trump could’ve done would’ve been good enough. I think it’s monumentally stupid to judge any president or world leader for “how they did” when it’s clear, in hindsight, that just about everyone fǔcked up. The lax states got some things wrong. The strict states got things wrong…it was a losing hand for everyone. The global economy was rocked. Not just ours. People got sick, not just in the U.S. Masks/no masks, social distancing/BAU…it barely mattered. All the while big pharma (who should be loathed by classic liberals) made out like bandits. Everyone took their lumps. To hold that against Trump or Trudeau or Macron or whoever else you can name, is being disingenuous.

You have never admitted to being wrong. I distinctly remember you, Joe, and a host of others soundly ripping Sweden to shreds for their handling of COVID. They insisted on carrying on with life with minimal disruption, the opposite of what people think should have been done. A Venn diagram of “People who think Trump was terrible during COVID” and “People who criticized Sweden for their handling of COVID” would be a single circle. Guess who ended up with one of the lowest death rates in the world while maintaining their economy better than their EU counterparts? Sweden.
Wouldn't it be more efficient for you to take the small risk and just get to the point?
The liberals on this board repeatedly bring up COVID and Trump as if it was his fault that our economy suffered from a global pandemic. The hate for the man has made it impossible for a huge swath of this country, and this board, to view anything adjacent to him with any sort of objectivity whatsoever.

You are absolutely clueless. He lied to us the entire time. 15 cases to zero. Hoax against me. Gone by Easter. Let the federal government pursue vaccines thankfully but than began questioning them and undermine public support for them. He is a colossal failure. These are facts. And then the pos attacked our Capitol. HO HUM

Oh sure. I totally agree. Lots (most?) voters are woefully ignorant. I think it's political suicide to say that if you're a politician or are involved with major party politics. But not on HORT

My big question is whether or not we've always been this dumb, and we just used to keep idiots like Trump on the sidelines (remember that it used to be that the parties picked their candidates -- no popular vote primaries, Trump would've never made through in yesteryear) so that they can't do damage, or, if our electorate is that much dumber than they used to be.

I think that's a really good question.

I think we have probably always been this uninformed, but have generally held to a shared vision of ethics and decorum.

I don't know the information age is to blame, but it certainly has helped to help consolidate a segment of society that otherwise might never have had the ability to organize.

Hyperventilating? I've barely posted since the dunces have spoken. I care about the country because I actually served it. Trump's entire prior administration did not endorse him for a reason. Stop being an idiot.
You don't care about "the country" you care about your party. you've been brainwashed to believe a single political party is right about every possible challenge the country faces. Hell you openly defend the very people who sent you to war bc they endorsed your party. That's being an idiot.

So says you. So let it be written. And I'll give you a like when you're finally right.

Probably because the country didn't fall apart the first time he was president.

Fall apart is a stretch but we were definitely worse off at the end of his term than when he started.

Some of the largest single day drops of the DJIA were on his watch, massive unemployment, triggered 2 years of inflation and ended in a capitol riot.

Oh well... time to party like it's 2020!! wooo!

Mark Robinson lost. Kari Lake lost. I'm hopeful that MAGA will fall apart once Trump heart attacks.

There’s a reason things like that (see 17th Amendment) have changed. It’s easier for our overlords to dupe the masses, which helped concentrate power in the executive branch.

It’s easier to bribe/blackmail/control one man than 218 representatives and 51 senators (and the legislatures that appointed those senators).

I seriously doubt that you clowns can keep your hair in flames like this for the next four years, but go for it...

Inflation. Price gouging under the guise of inflation, that has been admitted to under oath.

The arrival of The Tea Party, imo, is when we turned towards stupidity. It always seemed like basic policy disagreements before that. When they arrived, Democrats started saying, "Damn these people are morons."

President. House. Senate. Supreme Court. Is there anything left that the country trusts the Dems to be in charge of? Seems like the country gave y'all a resounding, " Shut the fvck up and sit the fvck down. People like the OP just might be the reason why.
Tell me you don't know how the SCOTUS works without telling me you don't know how the SCOTUS works.

Just because you won doesn't make you correct.
