If only the Republicans would agree with the Republican plan that would end this.

Stuck on the border

At least two Trump administration policies have prevented asylum seekers from pleading their cases in the United States: the Migration Protection Protocols and Title 42.

The Migration Protection Protocols, commonly known as the Remain in Mexico policy, required asylum seekers at the border to be returned to Mexico to await their day in court. The Biden administration attempted to end M.P.P. repeatedly, but those efforts have been blocked in court. This summer, the Supreme Court ruled that the administration could end the program, and M.P.P. was finally shut down in August.

Mexico has to agree with one of those, and it does NOTHING to deal with the 12 year deportation-hearings backlog we already have.

Title 42 of course only worked due to the pandemic.

The LAWS on asylum need to change, and the Lankford plan would have done it for the first time since the 1980s.

No better bill would get through than this one. It would solve the problem more than any reversible executive or court decision can: Increase hearings and deportations, and cap asylum requests to what the system can deal with.

You know Trump and Speaker Johnson are opposed is just to keep the outrage up for the election.

REPUBLICANS WANT GIRLS TO DIE FOR LOWERED TAXES.

Yeah let 5,000 a day walk across and it’s not a big deal. Sure.
(Actually 3,500) That's how many the new judges, personnel, and detention beds can handle.

Once the asylum seekers realize they will be in detention beds until a hearing they will stop trying to game the system. (Over 80% asylum apps rejected at hearing.)

And again, the alternative is doing *nothing* but letting 15k in without detention and deportation.

The alternative is locking and loading and shutting this phucking circus down in 48 hours!
