My guess is, Marco will stay, because he is a freshman, and as you’ve already fleshed out if he stays it is indicative of the fact he isn’t mad as hell like you guys.
He does believe in this head coach (even if you 2 don’t) and despite his dad, @littlez or his uncle, you telling him to leave…he will stay and continue to grow.
He’ll wait it out a year…,
Because you know, all the successful coaches regularly play the wrong guys….actually, if you read as many message boards as me, you'd find dopey fans on everyone of them constantly saying just that…

Quite frankly I can't see any D3 or lower program taking Deacon. Those programs all have mobile QBs.
Deacon is here to stay. For the life of me I can't see what Budmayre saw or sees in Deacon.

You are REALLY good at telling people they don’t know anything. We ALL watch every Iowa football game every year.
Now, unless you’re on the staff or are in direct contact with the football staff, we have the same objective evidence to go off of.
Here’s a fun fact, too. Deacon Hill is a third year sophomore, so he still has two years to play (I think he’s a year too young to get the extra Covid year but don’t know that for a fact). After McNamara uses up his eligibility next year, Hill could be named the starter for the 2025 season.
If you’re in Lainez’s shoes, do you really want to sit behind Hill for 3 years?

So I just read this Spencer Petras just committed to Utah state today. They said his NIL value 250,000$ I find that interesting!
It could get like Justin Fields with the Bears though where he is almost broken.

I think it's a little early to put a grade on this.
Sully still hasn't played a whole lot. If he turns out to be leaps and bounds better than CM, playing at a level CM never could, then it will end up being judged as yet another JC-Stanzi or Rudock-CJ fiasco. However, I'm not 100% sure this isn't just another Petras-Padilla "just doesn't matter" situation yet. Remember, CM looked pretty darn good against Washington....
The thing that is unfair for Sully is that the team is likely to take a major step back next season regardless of how well he does, so he may never have a chance to lead this team to the level of success that some of his predecessors have.
I guess time will tell. I admit that I was glad to see the change and I hope that it is permanent. If Sully leads this team to another 4 wins, this sure will be a "what-if" season....
