How will SMU (at Penn St) & Tennessee (at Ohio St) perform in the cold & possible snow?

There has never been a more overrated product than contemporary NFL.

I think it may actually be starting to regress back to some legitimacy though. We'll see

Sure, and Taylor Swift isn’t that talented, and Michael Jordan was just a basketball player.

I mean, at a certain point there’s some things you can’t call anything but overrated, because they’re just so astronomically higher than everything else.

If you're as good as you think you are than you should be at all those teams. Don't choke against a mediocre Michigan team because you're trying to prove a point. The playoff didn't ruin college football btw. It's enhanced it

Indiana would've complained all off-season if they had been left out. Some say Boise shouldn't have gotten a bye, I might've agreed had Texas only had the one loss or Ohio State only had one loss. But they didn't and Boise beat everybody on their schedule except for undefeated Oregon in Eugene. Miami choked against two average ACC teams and Alabama had three losses . Two of them being very bad losses. Ole Miss also has a really bad loss and two other losses to mediocre squads.

So I think the committee got it right. Penn State has a slightly easier road than Ohio State because they had one less regular season loss and none that were really damaging. Ohio State beat them which they were given credit for until they lost to a very mediocre Michigan team in Columbus. So wins and losses did matter.
I agree that they got it right. You don’t let a 3 loss team in regardless of their reputation. They were only 1 game above .500 in conference play.

You don’t get to cry about it when you lose 3 games on the field.

Beaver Stadium in Pennsylvania has undergone winterization upgrades to allow the building to be used when temperatures are below freezing. These upgrades include insulation on pipes and other improvements.

Under-soil heating systems use a network of pipes to circulate warm water or air beneath the soil or turf of a stadium. This system can help prevent ice and snow from accumulating on the field. Some stadiums use these systems to maintain the ideal playing surface throughout the season, not just in cold weather. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs use their system to keep the soil at the right temperature for growing grass and keeping the soil soft
An interesting use of ancient Roman technology.

Current conditions at 8:37 pm ET (local time) at Ohio State:

23 degree air temperature
7 MPH Wind (Gusting up to 10 MPH)
Feels like Temp: 18 degrees

The cold (and wind) affect the spread passing offense preferred in the South. Hard to throw & catch.
Favors the power run game of the northern teams.

OSU had no problem throwing the ball or catching it. OSU outclassed Tenn. I have been perusing the internet looking for all the commentary about how Tennessee did not belong in the playoffs. Crickets. It was by far the biggest mismatch of the first round and yet only Indiana is singled out for not belonging in? Paul Finebaum, big eared mouthpiece of the SEC, where are you? Lane Kiffin, crybaby of the SEC, where are you and your childish tweets? ESPN? Indiana is owed an apology. Yesterday's first round games are going to be the norm for first round playoffs going forward.

OK. So, apparently it wasn't the weather that was the problem, they were just a vastly inferior team, puffed up by the SEC sycophants. :)

On Saturday morning the eSECpn crew (especially Herbstreit) said Indiana didn't belong in the CFP (they lost by 10 to ND the night before).

Did they later say the same about Tennessee & SMU? Or does eSECpn have an agenda since they don't have a TV contract w/ the B1G? ;)
