How's Keegan Doing?

Kings SURVIVE in regulation to beat Spurs 131-129. Keegan: 3 points 3 rebounds.

A two-point win over the lowly 13-50 San Antonio Spurs does not give me much confidence in the Kings' upcoming playoff hopes. And as you noted yesterday, the Spurs best player, Wembanyama, did not play due to an ankle sprain.

Keegan's Stats:

31 minutes (of 48 possible)

1-3 (33%) from 3
0-1 (0%) from 2
.............................
1-4 (25%) Overall

0-0 (0%) FTs

Kings win. Keegan had 7 points and 3 rebs.
Ball dominant Fox and Monk take as many shots as they like whenever they want. Keegan is not getting many looks these days. I dislike the direction the team is taking. Giving Monk the ball is killing Keegan's offense. I also do not trust Monk to maintain focus and winning basketball over the long haul. Sure he makes spectacular shots and plays but they are hugely offset by his showboating and lack of discipline. He's a turnover machine and only wants to make plays for the bigs. I'm not a Monk fan.

Yeah, it is crazy that Keegan only got four shots off last night

It is. Yes, he's fully engaged on defense and that's taking a little away from his offense. But 4 shots isn't acceptable. I don't care who the guards are. They need to get Keegan at least 13 shots a game.

Sac goes down to Houston. 112-104 at home. Keegan with 13 pts, 6 rebs, 2 stls, and a block.

The Kings were the #3 seed in last year's NBA Playoffs. If the season ended today, the Kings (36-27), Dallas Mavericks, LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors would battle it out for the #7 and #8 seeds in the Play-In Tournament.

How Keegan got his 13 points:

0-5 (0%) from 3
3-6 (50%) from 2
...........................
3-11 (27%) overall shooting

7-7 (100%) from the FT line

Some fans and media are speculating whether Keegan is injured or just banged up. Three point shot disappeared. The Kings are a play-in team this year. Too many inconsistencies.

Out here for Iowa softball, so we got tickets to come over from UC Davis. So bummed! We are at the game tonight. Was hoping to see Keegan go off! The Kings are on fire from 3 though.

Go Hawks!

Keegan draws charge on LeBron.
Next time down he blocks LeBron but ref gives makeup call to LeBron

Kings up 11 with 3 to play.
Barnes on fire with 4 of 4 from arc in 4th.

Kings win vs Lakers 120-107. Keegan with 19 pts and 11 rebs. Keegan's movement without the ball was very good. Great defense as well.

Big win for the Kings with 17 games to go. They are now the #6 seed and, for now, slip out of the Play in Tournament, which involves the #7, #8, #9 and #10 seeds. Nice to see the Lakers at the #9 seed. ;)

How are Sac fans feeling about Keegan this season?
They know he’s been the guy to take on the tough defensive assignments but also lament his shooting woes. They also think he’s not a good ball handler. They’re still pretty high on him overall but feel he may be having a mini sophomore slump.

I was playing pickup basketball the other week and I had the assignment of guarding someone significantly bigger than me and just an overall better player. Max effort to stick with this guy. That game I did not have my legs to even shoot.

Do some teams just defend him better? One game he is > 50% from 3, and the next <20.

Some games he takes the ball to the rack but sometimes no. He tends to get open looks from 3, just not hitting.

Keegan is usually assigned to guard the other team's best player so that takes a lot of energy on the defensive side, which might be impacting him on the offensive side (especially the 3 point shot).

Some interesting stats:

In the Kings last 10 games, Keegan is averaging 35.2 min, 14.4 pts, 5.4 rebs, 1.4 assists, 1 block, 1.2 steals and is shooting 45.1% overall and 35.8% from three.

For the season, in 61 games played, Keegan is averaging 33 min, 14.7 pts, 5.3 rebs, 1.6 assists, 0.70 blocks, 1.1 steals and is shooting 45.9% overall and 35.5% from three.

Last season, in 80 games played, Keegan averaged 29.8 min, 12.2 pts, 4.6 rebs, 1.2 assists, 0.50 blocks, 0.80 steals and shot 45.3% overall and 41.1% from three.
