How's Keegan Doing?

Keegan is usually assigned to guard the other team's best player so that takes a lot of energy on the defensive side, which might be impacting him on the offensive side (especially the 3 point shot).

Some interesting stats:

In the Kings last 10 games, Keegan is averaging 35.2 min, 14.4 pts, 5.4 rebs, 1.4 assists, 1 block, 1.2 steals and is shooting 45.1% overall and 35.8% from three.

For the season, in 61 games played, Keegan is averaging 33 min, 14.7 pts, 5.3 rebs, 1.6 assists, 0.70 blocks, 1.1 steals and is shooting 45.9% overall and 35.5% from three.

Last season, in 80 games played, Keegan averaged 29.8 min, 12.2 pts, 4.6 rebs, 1.2 assists, 0.50 blocks, 0.80 steals and shot 45.3% overall and 41.1% from three.

His overall shooting percentage is actually higher this year, though way down from deep. His defensive stats have really ratcheted up as has minutes. I agree that his defense is critical and likely draining his shooting a bit.

Totally agree. He has spent this year learning how to be a really good defender. I think that if Fran had emphasized defense, Keegan's work on the defensive end of the ball would be a little easier for him. Has the emphasis on the defensive side adversely affected his shot? I and many others have said yes to that.
At some point, the outside shooting will come back, and hopefully he will become more consistent as a result of the "Levelling" between the two.

Kevin Huerter left the game in the first quarter with a shoulder injury. He didn't return.

Sac @ Orlando @ 6 PM on League Pass. (For those interested ;) ).

ummm, your Kings are the current #8 seed in the West with 13 games to go! Granted, they are just 1/2 game out of the #6 seed (which is where they need to be to avoid the Play in Tournament).

BTW, do you like the Play in Tournament? Not sure what to think about it because it gives the #10 team a chance to make the 8 team playoff.

Hell no I don't like the play-in, lol. One and done. From all accounts I've heard, you want to avoid it. ;)

Last year, Miami was in the Play-in and got to the Finals vs Denver. Denver won the series. But, to go from being a Play-in team to the Finals was quite the achievement. Edit: They began the journey as the 8th seed.

I think current #7 Phoenix, #9 LA Lakers and #10 Golden State are all capable of not only advancing from the Play in Tournament but doing well in the playoffs, unfortunately.

Huge win eases the pain of the Wiz loss.
Kings need to take care of biz at home, secure tiebreaker, and land that 6 seed.

Monk 0-11 in 22 minutes. Ouch. Keegan should have gotten the ball more. He was hot and didn’t get the touches he should have.

The Sacramento media calls Keegan one of their "big 3." I agree; they don't get him the ball enough, especially when he's on fire.

The Kings only shot 44% last night; they were lucky to win the game shooting that poorly.

Last night, Kings 3 point shooting:

4-9 (44%) Ellis
5-24 (21%) Rest of team

Get him the rock :) Really happy for young Keon Ellis. Playing nicely and getting PT. Great defender.

Some of the Sac media has started calling Monk part of a big three. They quickly forgot about Keegan because Monks a ball hog with the occasional pretty looking big game. It's apparent Monk is all about himself and Fox. Keegan is just too workmanlike to grab Monks attention. Yes, those are the reasons Keegan doesn't see the ball enough. Especially when he's on fire the Kings (Monk, Fox) don't look for him at all. Occasionally they throw him a bone because they know they shouldn't take all the shots. It's on Mike Brown at this point.

I honestly think Monk (Kentucky ego) has issues with Keegan (from little ol' Iowa).

Remember that time when Keegan had a spectacular dunk and Monk was asked about it? He gave it a 3 out of 10.

A few games later, Monk had an incredible dunk and postgame the media asked Keegan to rate it. Keegan laughed and gave it a 3. Keegan was joking, of course. Monk? Not so sure.

Yes, I remember that and I agree. Monk does seem to have issues with Keegan. I honestly think he didn't like Keegan getting close to his buddy Fox over the summer. The dynamic I see on the court is just OFF. I feel Monk has thrown that chemistry off. Early in the year Keegan was playing with intention and fire in his on court movements. When you rarely to never see the ball, even when you're the open option and the correct choice to go to, it becomes VERY hard to expend that much energy when a butthurt Monk won't throw you the ball. And then Kings fans have the gall to say Keegan just needs to be more aggressive. I've seen him be aggressive. It makes zero difference. They still won't throw him the ball. Very different feel from last year and I've quit watching every game like it's appointment TV. Screw the Kings, Mike Brown, and the Kentucky shitheads.

Know what else? Keegan rules Monk in golf! 😀
