Nice job Hawks - got a big wins from Gilman, Sorenson, and Brooks, others left some opportunities on the mat.

great win at a great venue - Yaaaaaa Hooooooo !

Well done Hawks
Great production
Sparks with Brands

Gotta score and gotta be stingy
meyer gave up 4 nf
cooper gave up 8 nf

gotta get better

set the precedent for wrestling with this event -Sparks
Brands-im still in the heavy weight match...we gotta get better. Great for the fans, great for the fans.

Gibbons and Johnson talking about how 4 pt NF is a game changer for wrestling, makes tech fall much more possible

showing Kinnick and crowd now...
Gibbons-what a crowd, what a look, what a production, good job hawks.

This match could've been a bloodbath. Clark doesn't get the pinfall and Iowa loses both close matches at 157 and 174. I'm not sure what that means except there's a lot of season left. The biggest thing I was looking for out of this match was Iowa looking loose and going all out. Not sure I saw that, and I would've rather seen them aggressive and lose. Congrats to Sammy!

They were the aggressor in every match except for 141 (Ryan wrestled him tough) and 165...and the latter part of Burak's match. Even at HWY, it was Stoll who was working the ties...he needs to develop his shot.

Lot of hawks score in the first.
Did not gas out.
More aggressive.
Coop was the real low point and Burak not getting bonus on a smaller/lesser opponent. Past that, I think it was a great start for them.
Gilman looked great but got too chippy at the end.
Clark, Sorenson, Alex just got caught but looked real good, Sammy. Burak was Burak. Stoll needs work but the future looks good there. 157/165 need to be figured out.
Good day.

CC and BS got out to nice leads after the 1st and then couldn't extend their leads for a md. I felt both guys should gotten md.

Also, I'm so glad Gilman shoved Klimara. I wish more Hawks would have shoved their opponents today. It was pathetic how gassed they were after have 7-8 matches under their belt.

I agree it is pathetic how bad OSU gassed, but I don't think those kind of antics paint our program in a very positive light, nor does it promote growth in our sport.

Saying he shoved him to the mat is a huge exaggeration.

Yea...you all know I'm not scared to call out Hawks behaving badly but it wasn't a big deal. Watch it again...light shove when Klimara is dogging it getting back to the middle. Kind of like Mike last year at ISU.

OSU kept taking a knee and taking their time getting back to the center of the mat. Pretty ridiculous antics by the pokes.

I totally agree with this assessment. I just don't think that we need to shove them in any way. It proves nothing. Whup with wrestling. That would prove more to me than a shove when the clocked is stopped.

I didn't see the shove, must have been looking away for a second, but it sounds like Klimara was saying something to Gilman before that. And did one of klimaras stall calls come from being too slow to get back to the center?

The shove barely moved Klimara and yes he did get a stall call for being to slow back to the center. Smith almost ran to the center of the mat after the shove, giving Klimara a nice lung timeout.

Gotta give props to Kdezeeuw. Man your PBP was outstanding! I read Christian Pyles PBP on Flo and yours was quite comparable and that dude gets paid for it! For those of us that couldn't be there and didn't have access to a TV either (watched the replay later just awesome!), I really appreciate it, great job! Great day to be a Hawk fan! That match was just another example of why Hawk fans are so critical of the Okie St style of wrestling. Lots of stalling and leaving it to Hawks to generate the excitement. If you were a recruit and were torn between the two programs and you saw that match, how could you not climb aboard the Hawk Train. WHOOOOOO WHOOOOOO!

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!

Great work, Kdez. Of course, I couldn't access my network at Kinnick. So, the first thing I did after we left the dual and got to a place for lunch was to pull up the PBP and read it as a recap.

Thanks for the compliment. Obviously, it was my first time doing it, but I have lurked for years and I know how much I appreciated the pbp when I couldn't watch.

Just rewatched this match and you are so off base with everything. He didn't get a stall for being to slow, flat out wrong. I'm sure coach smith was really trying to give s lung runout with 5 seconds left. Gilman initiated the entire sequence. Klimara looks over at coach Gilman looks as if he orders Klimara to get down, Klimara says something back and Gilman pushes him. Gilman is s great wrestler, but needs to grow up.

That dude was dead after the third minute...They should have stalled him out. It was Cooper's to lose. So far, Hawk's have come to wrestle. Logan and Cooper wrestled hard. Gilman is a flat out assassin. Wish Cory had got that pin. Brandon was flat out awesome...so many had him losing that match and it wasn't close
I don't know why anyone would think Collica was going to beat Brandon Sorensen in Folkstyle Wrestling. It isn't going to happen.

During that match, Klimara was called for stalling for not getting back to the center of the mat. I also said the shove wasn't that bad. I made no comment about who was talking to whom prior to the shove. It Cowboy fans are outraged by a little shove, maybe try not come to a major wrestling event out of shape(after wrestling at 2 tournaments prior). Also John Smith ran almost to the middle of the mat. If that wasn't caught on tv, then I can't do anything about that.

He was called for stalling for stalling while wrestling, which I thought was a bit quick, but not crazy and he was called for backing off the mat. NEVER was he called for coming to the center too slow. CM was called for that, but not Klimara. It not that I'm outraged, it was just a punk move by a kid with a history of them. If it was the other way around this board would go nuts.

That may be true, as fans we're allowed to think what we want, just like you. All depends on whose ox is being gored................

On a side note, I was watching the replay last night, and I couldn't help but smile when an over-matched Logan Ryan got let go for an escape near the edge of the mat by Heil, and Heil turns around and heads for the center and waits there for Ryan. What does Ryan do? He takes a bee-line quickly to the center of the mat to engage Heil. I couldn't help but smile wondering how long an Iowa wrestler would have sat in the center of the mat waiting for an Okie State wrestler to engage him under similar circumstances. I had a visual of an Iowa wresting singlet over a pile of bones........................:D

Whether he pushed him with enough force to move him drastically or not doesn't change the fact that it was 100% a bush league move. Gilman is incredibly talented and has the package to win it all this year, but he needs to show a bit more maturity in doing it. I thought he had made some good strides by the end of last season (which would not have been exceedingly difficult), but maybe I was wrong. There is a big difference between being tough and being a turd, and Gilman more often than not falls into the latter category without a doubt.

On a slightly more up beat note, how about Brooks? WOW, what a showing. He looks like he could be a contender wrestling like that. Here's to hoping we see this side of him the rest of the season. John Smith was none too happy with his guy in that match up.
