Whether he pushed him with enough force to move him drastically or not doesn't change the fact that it was 100% a bush league move. Gilman is incredibly talented and has the package to win it all this year, but he needs to show a bit more maturity in doing it. I thought he had made some good strides by the end of last season (which would not have been exceedingly difficult), but maybe I was wrong. There is a big difference between being tough and being a turd, and Gilman more often than not falls into the latter category without a doubt.

On a slightly more up beat note, how about Brooks? WOW, what a showing. He looks like he could be a contender wrestling like that. Here's to hoping we see this side of him the rest of the season. John Smith was none too happy with his guy in that match up.
I don't think it was that big of a deal, but I do believe most Iowa fans would hope he reels his emotion in just a hair. He has an edge to him, so did his Coaches. It worked for them and if it works for him just as well, I can live with it. If that's the worst thing he does this year, meh.

It really ISN'T that big of a deal - you see chippy wrestlers do that stuff all the time, it goes with the territory. And, yes, Gilman, does that crap at times, but not really a big deal, as sloehawk states, he wrestles with an edge.

If I were a Hawk fan, which I'm clearly not, what I would be most concerned about was not the what or why about it, but the when. Many times that would have cost him a match penalty point for unsportsmanlike. In that match if it was called, it would have cost him the major. In the end it wouldn't have made a difference in who won the dual meet, but at the time it would have been huge. You've got to be smarter than that.

BTW, kudos to Iowa for putting on that show on Saturday. It was a big event everywhere. Here in PA, all my wrestling buddies talked about it and many made a point to watch it in the middle of a beautiful Saturday here. Very, very good for the sport.

I would expect to see these popping up at OK State, PSU, maybe tOSU in the near future. Again, kudos to Iowa, and especially Tom Brands (who I think, came up with the idea) for making it happen.

I can see Gilman in practice telling people to just quit whining and wrestle. Yea, it could have cost him but then so should have the theatrics of the OSU coaches coming all the way out to the middle of the mat for a light shove. Love that Gilman lives rent free in a lot of people's heads...including some of our own people.

And the 2nd Ref gave John Smith a harder shove to get him off the mat than Gilman gave Klimara. I definitely got a kick out of that.

The OK State coaches were all over the mat on multiple occasions. I especially loved how the cowboy wrestlers kept looking at the coaches for help when they were hit for running off the mat. As for Gilman, he gave Cokemara a nudge after nose candy told him to eff off.

Was it the Harding match where it took awhile for the wrestler to come out of the tunnel. Smith had to run and get him. OSU took stalling to a whole new level...

Thanks. I sincerely hope to see this elsewhere. Interesting to see who does it next. I'm guessing PSU.

A little FYI, I came up with the idea and mentally willed it into Tom's brain.

It was...Clark could have knitted him a can of whoop ass while he waited out there in the cold.

I checked out trackwrestling because I was curious about the points summary and I came across the Tie Breaking tab. Iowa and Okie State tied on the first two criteria, 5-5 wins, and 0-0 Pins, defaults, forfeits, DQs. However, if a tie had occurred Okie State would have won based on the third criteria, NON pin, TF, ID, DQ points. This doesn't make sense to me. Why would TF points not be included in this criteria, especially since it's not included with pinfalls in the previous criteria?

FWIW, Okie State would've won based on most near fall as well, but Iowa would win overall TDs and first TD.

Criteria IOWA OKST
Most Individual Match Wins 5.0 5.0
Most Pins, Defaults, Forfeits, DQs 0.0 0.0
Most NON Pin, TF, ID, DQ Match Points 56.0 62.0
Most Near Fall Points 10.0 15.0
Most Takedown Points 32.0 28.0
First Takedown 1.0 0.0

It's okay if he's a Hawk but a real a__ if he's from Okie St.

That would probably depend on how thin your skin is. Had Klimara done it, I probably would have booed, and been laughing the entire time I did it. I'm not that sensitive, but I do know those folks exist..........................
