Now we're talkin'!Fair enough WWDM - April goal of $100k
No we're talkin'!
Don't try to de-rail the positivity of this thread. Thanks. As quickly as Dresser raised $750k, maybe someone should hire him to raise funds and pay him commission.
If I remember correctly the Hawkeye Wrestling faithful fairly quickly helped Dan Dennis raise $20,000+ for his family to attend the Olympics, so I hope momentum on this current effort for the HWC doesn't wane before we even reach that amount!
I've signed up for smileamazon. But I'm not giving anything more until you guys get the auto monthly payments things going."<<Randy - Any chance you could add PayPal as an option through which to donate?>>
I certainly think so! Recurring payments and paypal are at top of list,I will be working on this next week--
It's a team effort. You guys are the tip of the spear, and we're all just foot soldiers ready to overwhelm whatever obstacle happens to be in our way. Thanks to the HWC board for all of your efforts. You guys put in a ton of work that nobody sees, and we all owe you a debt of gratitude. You guys and gals are awesome. We have never seen this kind of a grassroots fundraising campaign before. At last count, we have seen 65 donations come in at an average of $176.55 each. Incredible. Thank You!
In another thread it mentions Dresser has raised like 750k and his goal is 1M. IS THAT CORRECT?????
<<In another thread it mentions Dresser has raised like 750k and his goal is 1M. IS THAT CORRECT???????>>
I have no idea if it is correct, but I can GUARANTEE that if we had cooperation from Admin/Iclub/Foundation we could raise 10X that very easily !!
Did you happen to see hawkgasser (and one other users) reply to the thread in the lounge? They mentioned there was a lot of "misinformation" in this thread. I was going to reply with everything the way I've interpreted it, but figured I'd butcher it.<<In another thread it mentions Dresser has raised like 750k and his goal is 1M. IS THAT CORRECT???????>>

I'd wager a lot of money that they didn't do this through their message boards. WE are basically only targeting message board users, because this was spontaneous. If this was something that was put out by the administration, AD, coaches, etc, we'd have raised X times the amount than we've already done so far. (I'd like to think x = 10, but at the same time I don't want to think about it because it's a missed opportunity)That's why I asked. If they can do that why the hell can't we? Something is definitely wrong with Iowa's system. I wish I knew more about this because it really intrigues me coming from an accounting/finance career.
Just gonna say that the Foundation has NEVER told me whom else I could give money to, and I certainly have given additional funds to HWC. And I certainly fit the profile of people that supposedly are told to not give to HWC. I feel like there is some misinformation in that thread but I certainly love how quickly they raised money for the HWC!
The common theme on the wrestling board is that the Foundation doesn't support HWC and they deter donors from giving towards HWC. While I haven't worked at the Foundation, I have yet to meet a development officer who discourages giving towards an organization or specific program. Frankly, that would be idiotic.
Second, to create an endowed fund in support of HWC it would need to reach a minimum dollar amount (Gasser likely knows that minimum). Endowed funds perpetually sustain scholarships or programmatic support. Endowed funds at many institutions begin at $50,000 and provide $2,500 a year in support. If a donor stepped up and wanted to support HWC at that level, I'd imagine the Foundation would gladly work to make it happen.
What I just typed is based on industry norms. I don't proclaim to know anything about HWC but blaming the Foundation for funding deficiencies seems misguided.
Ladies/Gents--
The admin/foundation/Iclub doesn't discourage donations from supporting the HWC -- but they don't encourage it or cooperate in any way to help our situation like other schools. I could give many examples-
We cant even get a list of participants that played in an Iclub golf outing so we can email them to see if they would have interest in ours.
I could go on and on-- they have no motivation or inclination to look for ways to help.
We have the greatest wrestling fan base anywhere--- We have a program that is historically among the very best.
A little support and cooperation would go a LONG way
He's sat with Gable for at least one home dual meet. I suspect we know how to get in touch with him.Since he is a huge Iowa fan, anyone got contact info to Kutcher?

With a little imagination and organization we can take the HWC to the top. This is an amazing start!!!!/QUOTE]
Maybe a raffle? $100 a ticket, the winner gets to throw Terry?
Dresser didn't raise it. It was rasied in order to bring him to ISU. Question to ask is it pledges or hard money and is it coming from a few big hitters and or corporate givers or was a lot of it generated from individual and farmer contributions. Makes a difference as to the final and actual tally. As quickly as Dresser raised $750k, maybe someone should hire him to raise funds and pay him commission.
Of course you can give to the HWC in any amount and at any time. What you can't do is give to the collegiate hawkeye wrestling program, only, through the foundation. What the foundation and or the athletic department can also control is not alowing the HWC to have access to mailing lists, have booths at hawkeye sporting events and on university property, not be able to distribute mailiers or information mateials and not be on board with any fund raising necessary to upgrade wrestling facilities. Here are the two posts I was talking about, including a link to the thread:
From Hawkgasser (probably biggest contributer/donater that frequents the boards)...
From 2bagger22 (never seen/heard of the guy)...

Great minds...lol...it's being done. He's sat with Gable for at least one home dual meet. I suspect we know how to get in touch with him.
If this is the case, Dresser should be the head of fund raising for the whole athletic dept. Am I wrong in saying that the iowa tax payers are subsidizing the clone athletic dept because they are not self sufficient?. Isn't that why they got rid of the baseball team?. It seems they should fire the head of fund raising, and this shows the money is around and the big boosters are there. $750,000 in a few short weeks is alot of money in a hurry for a dumpster fire.
ISU's AD has been self sufficient for a number of years.
