HWC $146,785 Raised! Goal- 100K

Why not explain to members on here how a donation to the HWC helps out Iowa wrestling?

I believe more would give (or give more) if they understood where the money went and how it was used..

Thanks!
In as few of words as possible will try to do that. TOP recruites want to make sure they have the very best competition in the room to make them better. If you have a freestyle champion in the room who will work out with a potential recruite and that recruite is top 5 rated he will look more favorably at that school as far as making the very most of his already significant skill. Nohing against the wrestlers in our club but we don't have the same top quality from top to bottom as say PSU. To get the top level wrestlers for the HWC we need more money and to really do it right we need not only the really tremendous support generated here by the dye hard fans on this forum but also some one or some corporations that would be willing to provide a perpetual funding source so that the funding will be secure and committed year to year to year. Why the coaches have talked about having a trust fund set up for the club of around $10,000,000 so it would basically be self sustaining.

I just tried to donate again from the website, but there is now no button to click to do so. I assume this is due to work being done on the site to facilitate auto pay donations? Whatever the reason, please get it fixed soon. I can't win "Greatest Hawkeye Wrestling Fan Ever" with the current state of affairs. #TitleChase #GoHawks

This is an incredibly informative thread. Never seen a fanbase galvanize quite like this over anything. I'm a casual (played basketball in HS) and can barely pay my student loans, but I've sent an email to Barta and will be giving as soon as I'm out of the gutter.

Iowa wrestling, basketball, and football are so important to the collective ego of this state. All roadblocks to success need to be removed and we need to get the best guys we can in the room and carry the flag for USA wrestling. Iron sharpens iron.

This is what big brothers do when little brothers start acting tough.

Fantastic post, and I couldn't agree more. To quote the late, great Jim Zabel, I love it, I love it, I love it!

I think I figured out the problem. The Russians hacked my computer. Seriously, who in the international community has more to lose if the HWC flourishes? The Russians know what we're up to here, and it's killing them. They're resorting to cyberattacks.

Anyway, now that I have that solved, how about a donation to keep my #TitleChase alive:

Okay,

We've had 5 donors of $100 or more. The next 5 donors who give at least $50 to this thread will get a copy of "The Dream Team of 1947", the story of how a little school in eastern Iowa broke the stranglehold schools from Oklahoma had on the NCAA championships. It is a fascinating story.
