Started with that year cause that is when I really started to watch. I barely remember Lester playing.

Starters

PG: BJ Armstrong
SG: Roy Marble
SF: Kevin Gamble
PF: Reggie Evans
C: Acie Earl

2nd team

PG: Andre Woolridge
SG: Matt Gatens
SF: Jarrod Uthoff
PF: Ed Horton
C: Greg Stokes

Coach: Fran McCaffrey

Sg you have to have kingsbury. Gatens was a great 3 point shooter but kingsbury seemed like he could hit it from anywhere

Gamble better than Uthoff?? Uthoff is a first-team All-American candidate. The same can't be said about anyone else on that list. I may put Luke Recker on the second-team list over Gatens, even though he only played for 2 years at Iowa.

McCaffrey is a tireless recruiter, Davis not so much. Also Davis was pretty rigid in his approach to the game i.e. pressing when the press was getting destroyed. I'll take McC.

Yes re: Davis. There were several Iowa high school kids that Roy Williams and others saw play in person more than Davis.

Although I have been told from several people I trust that Davis' basketball mind was amazing -- he could call out the offensive set, or out of bounds play the other team was likely to run, or could pick up little things on how to break down an opposing player from the tape. The kind of guy who would have made an amazing advance NBA scout or self-scout if he hadn't succeeded at Iowa.

Gamble played on a team with 9 other pros including 2 long time NBA guys (Lohaus and BJ). His numbers weren't spectacular but he was amazing.

Also, Settles and Street might be on the list if not for injuries and Chris's tragic passing.

Kingsbury wouldn't be ahead of Pierce or Dev Marble

Yea more I think about it kingsbury was just a 3pt threat. Haluska was also a really good guard too his senior year he carried the Hawks.

Ill take Huluska over Gatens and Kingsbury....Kingsbury was a liability more than he was a threat....plus if we play PSU he might get ejected

Two deeps in basketball? Where's Chris Street? o_O To others, comparing Dr. Tom's 13 years without a rebuild to McCaffery's 5 1/2 with a huge rebuild? I'll quit there....but lots more could be said.

Lester as good as anyone I ever saw with the ball in his hands until he got hurt, (he made Clay Hargrave look all big ten), but Uthoff is really really good and I don't think he's as good as he can be yet.As a pro he may be a real matchup problem as he gets stronger.

Is everyone forgetting how good Bobby Hanson was? Excellent shooter, very good defender. Proved it by playing many years in the NBA. Gamble also had a nice lengthy career in the NBA.

Here's my 5- you all will lose.....

Ricky Davis
Tyler Smith
Joey Range
JJ
Downtown

PG: BJ Armstrong
SG: Adam Haluska
SF: Roy Marble
PF:Jarrod Uthoff
C: Greg Stokes

I was tempted to put Woolridge on the team in place of Haluska and go with a two point guard lineup.
