Iowa and Iowa State thoughts

I am going to make an assumption that you were never an Iowa fan, even if you thought you were at one time.....because there is no way that a true Iowa fan would ever be anything but an Iowa fan (might be a pissed off Iowa fan, but an Iowa fan none the less) and they certainly would not suddenly become an ISU fan and have a screen name of 'redcy'......furthermore, why in the hell are you on an Iowa fan site, I mean I get that your site has probably about 15 total people and very little positive things to talk about, but still wonder why you are here?
Once again your wisdom also shows. I grew up in the Iowa City area. I was interested in engineering and went to the best engineering schooll in the state. I also wanted to get a few hours away from home. When I walked the campus in Ames, I fell in love with it. I went to Iowa State in 1985, the year the Hawks went to the Rose Bowl and Ronnie fumbled it away. I came back from winter break and my door was plastered with articles from all over the country....UCLA 45-28. I cried when the hawks lost and when they won I would spend all day Sunday reading the Cedar Rapids Gazette over and over.

What you need to figure out is that it's just a game. I would hope that this week with the passing of Tyler Sash would put things in perspective for you. I love college football and basketball and if you haven't figured it out yet, whether we are hawk fans or cyclone fans we are all similar people as we a have grown up in a similar culture. I love the social aspect of all this. Iowa fans think they are different then ISU fans and ISU fans think they are different than Iowa fans. Well, we are all pretty much the same. If everyone understood this we wouldn't have all this fun.

You read into this stuff way too much. I never stated who is Iowa's main rival....Iowa State or whomever. I'm not an Iowa fan anymore so how can I say who is Iowa's rival. Even the question I originally asked received several different answers from different Hawk fans so how the hell am I suppose to tell you who your rival is.

BTW, when I was a Hawk fan, Minnesota and Wisconsin sucked so I never thought they were a rival.

Believe me I understood what Fry was about. You know nothing about me to make such a judgmental statement in regards to my wisdom in regards Iowa football.....it only shows your lack of wisdom to make assumptions about someone you do not know.

I read exactly what it is that you typed. If you feel misunderstood, that is your fault. Perhaps you should think first and post afterwards next time.

Here is a clue... Iowa's rival is not, nor has ever been, isu in the manner that most isu fans here (including you) want it to be. Sorry, but that is the reality of it all.

[BTW, between Minnesota, Wisconsin and say....isu, which team has less tradition, honors, recognition, significance - you name it of the three? This might serve as a perfect example of what I posted earlier. Think first.

The implication from your post was that Coach Fry considered isu as a rival more important than teams from the Big Ten. That is blatantly false. What you assume to be wisdom has become errant memory of what occurred when Fry was at Iowa.

That is a nice story, however; I am going to stick with my statement when I say that you might have thought you were an Iowa fan but you were not. If you were an Iowa fan you still would be an Iowa fan and certainly would not be an ISU fan. Once a Hawkeye always a Hawkeye, so the fact that you are now a Clown fan automatically elimantes you from ever claiming to be a Hawkeye. I am going to ask you again why the hell are you on a Hawkeye rivals page. Go on your Clown page and you guys can discuss your handful of bowl games you have played in your program history and talk about how you guys claim to dominate the series when in reality it has been 10-10 over the last 20 years and a laughing stock the 40 years prior.

Furthermore, do not come onto our page and compare the fan base of Iowa with the piece of crap fan base in Lames. We are very different and let me explain how with a few examples. When you have a coach who wins 6-7 games you anoint him a savior and give him a contract extension, our coach wins 7 games and we want him fired. ISU attendance is at 60K and it is seen as progress and its a big positive, our attendance at 60K is a disappointment..500 against Iowa the last 10 games and you see it is domination, we see it as disappointment. THose are just a few examples of how we are different and I could go on and on but I think you get the point.

Nice sophomoric response.....do you really hear yourself? But that's ok because we have cyclone fans that act just like you too. Whoops, did I compare fan bases again....sorry.

I see ISU fans that want Rhoads fired and those that support him. I see Hawk fans that want Ferentz fired an I see those that support him.....seems kind of similar to me....am I comparing again....sorry.

Don't get the social make up of a fan base mixed up with expectations. Expectations can change over time pretty quickly. If Prohm doesn't deliver this year, you don't think there will be ISU fans calling for his head after year one?

So if our attendance goes UP to 60k and yours go DOWN to 60k and you don't think it should be viewed as progress and disappointment respectively, Really.

What can I say...I've grown and matured.

Campos is not a bad lineman, he is comparable to Meyers at LT....Ott will not struggle against Campos, it is more likely that Campos will struggle against Ott....we saw what Ott did at kids day and last week, going against Sherff for several years really helped Ott become one of the best DE in the B10

Campos is better than Meyers. Ott will still make his presence felt though

I actually have admiration for ISU fans.....it is beyond me how in the world you can be so committed to a program that is just horrible, like one of the worst in the country....that takes a lot of dedication. I mean I am not sure if ISU fans know that there are games played after the month of November, for those ISU fans on the Hawkeye page (which is a whole different issue) there are games played in December and January and they are called "Bowl Games"....teams that can at least play .500 football gets an opportunity to play another game against another comparable team.....
Well most of us don't see that much difference in the quality of our teams. The results the last decade and a half prove that out. The problem for ISU is that the opportunity for wins comes from UNI, Iowa, Toledo, Kansas and Texas Tech. That's 5 games we have to win and since many are toss-ups, that's not likely to happen. The 6th win for bowl eligibility has to come via upset of Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, Baylor, Kansas State, West Virginia or Oklahoma State. Maybe a couple of those teams will slip a little this year and provide more opportunities for ISU. If Iowa beats Iowa State, that means a second big upset is needed to make a bowl. I ain't easy being us right now. Iowa can lose Saturday and still make a bowl. For the record, the schedules have not always been this way. These things usually go in cycles.

That worn out schedule argument. Seriously worn out. Let me guess, if ISU was in the Big 10 you'd be competing for championships and 10 wins would be the norm.

I saw someone tweet a screen shot of this thread. The bottom of this page is pretty disgusting.

Not to mention sifting through to see some of the score predictions. You would think this Iowa State team is a CF Playoff contender.

Wait isu fans are d-bags? Chalk up another one.

Clone fans will fight to the death to keep their crutch the SOS. Not one of them can answer why SOS doesn't equate to wins in the post season. Which of course would occur if the teams in the Texas Ten were as good as clone fans thought they were.

Chalk up another one.
