Iowa High School State Championships

Guys that appear worthy of keeping an eye on. I excluded people that I know wouldn't go to Iowa.

DeSalvo
Landers
Crosson
Fox
Dhabolt

Are any of these guys even going to be top 50 recruits nationally? Maybe Landers? I know most are fairly young yet.

Not sure, that's why I said keep an eye on. DeSalvo and Dhabolt I think will end up being pretty high end. Both had dominant seasons with 2 left. DeSalvo beat Schwab's kid 7-2 or 9-2 during the season. Dhabolt just took out a two time champ heading to SDSU. Crosson was very successful in the younger grades just jumped from 113 to 138 and won a title, right now he might be a tad behind the other two.

I’m also not sure. It wasn’t a loaded question. I guess the real question is what these kids have done nationally. I honestly don’t know.

Crosson was a fargo a champ
Hayden schwab is multi x fargo champ and u17 world team member.
Dhabolt was a fargo runner up.
Desalvo has had some national recognition but a few injuries. Same with Landers.

I know DeSalvo was at M2 before coming to Iowa. He won cheesehead this year beating a couple ranked guys. I think at the time they met Noble was ranked #1 at 113.

I only saw the the very end of the Ross match. Was the Xavier kid talking a lot of smack or do something during the match? I've only watched a few of Ross's matches, but he's always seemed very low key. Just takes care of business. And boy, he was fired up last night lol.

Ross let him go/dropped him when they were out of bounds earlier in the match. Xavier kid sort of went after him after that and it chippy the rest of the way.

Even though there was two borderline stall calls on Pearson 132 lbs final, I guess I like that TJ Koester won the match, as he was the offensive wrestler the whole match.

I am curious as to what Koy Davidson injury is. Sucked to see a default in a finals match.

Avila vs Jabari Hinson. Happy for Avila, feel bad for Hinson he almost completed a comeback, though he might of been pinned in the 1st period there.

I wonder where Asa Hemsted where wrestle in college. It would be interesting seeing him in a match with Ross. Not a huge size difference and Ross would win but Hemsted is a beast

Honnald from Nodaway Valley is a junior and possible college wrestler down the road.

I think Ngoma vs Ross is tricky, unfortunate. Ross had the invincible aura. Ngoma tried his best and was game and his athletism killed some clock thinking he was in the match, Ross immediately felt bad about dropping him out of bounds. It happens but will always continue to happen, but I do not personally like to see backflips after matches (Ironside has said he doesn't either) especially if you haven't shook hands yet.

Knox dad got into it with fans of another team yesterday in NJ and ended up in handcuffs. It had nothing to do with Anthony or any of his matches. Knox team was winning big at the tournament and one team and parents had been booing and talking smack. One of the kids after winning flexed on the parents of the team talking and one of the dads flipped the kid off and Knox dad went over there and the parent pushed him and all hell broke loose. Parents and some wrestlers were involved and some were arrested. NJ wrestling can get wild having lived there for years I saw it first hand

Good to see sportsmanship has died too; Taunting, flexing on wrestlers, coaches and fans, whipping dat ass, backflips, and whatever the hell that Johnston kid was doing.

Old Man tells at cloud here, but last night was a terrible display at the Iowa State Tournament. But at least there were no brawls...

Anyone know the backstory with his celebration????

Came off as WAYYYYY over the top.
Almost douchelike.
Not excusing the behavior, but after Jipp beat him at the Ed Winger, he did something very similar. I wish Jacob would’ve taken the high road, but the emotions and moment got the best of him. We were all young and dumb once, and by all accounts Jacob is a good kid. Unfortunate, but he’ll learn from it

Thank you for the info. Knew Schwab was on the world team which is big. Fargo is nice but as a shell of what it once was, it’s lost a lot of luster. Not a big indicator anymore.

If what's posted a couple posts after this is what you're talking about it doesn't look like something similar to me.

Ben is the 11th ranked HWT in the country as a RS frosh. 8 of the 10 guys ranked ahead of him are seniors. Not too bad.
I'm sure there'll be at least 6-7 others who f***ing emerge out of nowhere and become unbeatable monsters that pass Iowa's guy by because that seems to be the trend lately.....because f*** Iowa, right? Can't have nice things. :D

I was referencing his projected weight gain rather than his results. Keuter would be one of the lighter Heavyweights having success at the 285 weight class.
I am rooting for him to be an AA, which seems to the acid test for true achievement.

Is there anyway to catch a replay of this that isn’t through flo? Asking for a friend…

Edit to add. By this I mean the finals stream.

When is Southeast Polk going to split into two high schools? Three? Land in Altoona and Pleasant Hill as far as the eye can see, and being developed at a rapid pace.
Wouldn't count on it anytime soon. Then they'd have to change to something other than the Rams...

Runnels
Altoona
Mitchellville
Surrounding areas

I don't think it's growing out there at nearly the same rate as Waukee and Ankeny.

I would guess Carlisle has to eventually pop as well.
