Heard about this last week. My son is a tight end at a 5-A high school near Baton Rouge. His position coach was a grad assistant with the LSU program last year. This came up when I was talking to him at the season kickoff banquet. CSB.

You said "great" at first. I don't care what some writer for SI says. Go back and watch any LSU game from last year and you'll see that he was a below average blocker. Like you said, that was as a true freshman and it's likely that he will improve his all around game, but he was by no means a "great blocking TE" last year. I also don't care that much, so why am I posting twice on this thread? I must be bored.
He is a more than solid blocking TE, his film shows that he's not bad. You are here because you want to argue. I have repeatedly stated that he will not be a TE if he comes to Iowa, and the coaches saw it that way as well. 1:08 minute mark, never seen so much pulling from a TE blocker either.
Well, we can agree to disagree. Two of my close friends are LSU fans, so I watch almost every game. He was below average. And not that PFF is the gold standard by any means, but they had his run blocking grade as 46.2. The average grade is a 60. Instead of watching a highlight video, go back and watch full games.
lol, PFF ranks Borund as a top 5 interior lineman in the big. For other reference, the #1 WR ranked by PFF is Miller from Rutgers, and not a single OSU WR listed...

His class status is irrelevant to his current play. It's not like a freshman kicker has wider goal posts than an upperclassman. I never once speculated on a potential position at Iowa. I didn't cite "rankings". I cited their grade for his running blocking. HIS grade against HIS opponents. Not compared to anybody else's specific grade. I'm concerned about your comprehension skills. Again, go back and watch an actual game and then tell me that you think he is a great run blocker. It's as simple as that.

Size is not verified but looks and plays big/stout. Physical at the point of attack and thrives in the run game as a blocker. Tone setter in that capacity.

The 247 report was written in July of 2021 when he was entering his junior year of high school. The On3 report was written after his junior year in high school. How in the hell do those describe his performance as a run blocker in his freshman year of college? So now your opinion of his current run blocking ability is based on his sophomore and junior years of high school? Are you having a stroke?

I highly doubt it, I would assume he heads to mizzou. He likely wouldn't see the field as a TE at Iowa.
No idea. Was Iowa even a finalist of his? I know that he took an unofficial visit to Iowa and that his dad played here, but I don't remember how interested he was.
Seems like we have been getting quite a few good TE prospects in the last few years. Not sure Iowa would have an interest in him.
I was thinking the same thing. Has to be family emergency or tampering makes little to no sense leaving this late. Be nice if he chose the good guys
I would feel there’s always room for a high caliber athlete, especially if he’s willing to transition to the offensive line which is what the staff wanted to do originally. Could be a great tackle given the measurables

Very true. He was going to be a big part of their TE rotation this year at LSU, and the coaches were very disappointed that he left. He didn't see a future there though, since LSU had brought in two freakish athletes at that position who were already pushing him on the depth chart: true sophomore Ka'Morreun Pimpton and true freshman Trey'Dez Green. I think Mac saw that by next season he may not be on the two deeps, especially if starter Mason Taylor returns for his SR year instead of going pro.

* Mac went to high school at St. Louis (MO) DeSmet.
* Mac was at one time committed to the Florida Gators but that changed once Dan Mullen was fired and replaced by Bill Napier.
* Mac committed to LSU over Iowa, Ohio State, Miami and many others.

The tight end position is definitely a position of need for Brian Kelly and his LSU coaching staff. On Thursday, one of the nation's very best gave LSU his verbal commitment.
