IOWA opened as 4 point favorite vs Washington. As of Thursday Morning: IOWA -3; O/U is 42.5

Their QB1 is very accurate. They’ve got a stable of good RBs and their WR appear solid. If QB1 struggles they won’t hesitate to put in their freshman QB who’s a dual threat.

What has killed WA are penalties. If they play a clean game, i think if they get more than 21 points they win

The WR’s are real good. Not near as good as last year but Boston will definitely be an NFL player. Giles likely is too. Kinda crazy that was their WR5 & WR6 last season. Boston is just starting to tap into his potential. Will be the top WR (not at OSU) next season in the BIG.

Jonah Coleman will be an NFL back and Mohamad, the freshman, is talented.

The line SUCKS though. Total mishmash from losing everyone. I like Iowa’s front to give them major issues.

Washington is #8 in the country in total defense. #3 in passing yards allowed. I think this is going to be tougher than some realize

The crazy part is last years defense had more talent than this years. Coaching matters. Deboer’s poor defenses won’t cut it at Bama.

I think KJ is going to have a big day and break a couple huge runs as they stack the box.

I like the over in this game especially if it goes to 40.5 or lower , keeps dropping due to recent bias of Iowa's offensive suck from watching them throw up all over themselves against OSU . Washington will put up 20-24 alone I think . Iowa will have to score at a competent level to win this game .

Ohio State looks like the most complete college team, with good depth, this year. The game being played in Oregon will certainly work to the Ducks advantage, but I still see a fairly comfortable O$U victory.
Which team that spends the most money on NIL will win this game. Money talks and wins!

Not sure how/why Washington wouldn’t employ the same defensive strategy against Iowa that they did against Michigan. Neither really had a threat to pass the ball well. Pack the box and play man, leave the QB with little time to throw.

Maybe with the Kinnick crowd and the Iowa DL we can slow them down

Hopefully Cade can get the passing game going

I don’t understand how anyone is confident Iowa wins this one. I’ll be there and I hope they do, but there’s a glaring disparity at QB.
Dinardo made the comment in the training camp tour that he didn't feel Washington was physical enough currently. So punch the %^@%^%@^% in the mouth every single play and the crowd be loud.

They definitely aren’t. Last years OL was amazing. 7 NFL guys in the two deeps, all gone. This one is totally different and way less talented. Definitely the teams weakness, along with special teams/penalties.

Last years D line was much more talented as well (two in the NFL), but they were coached poorly. Much more sound this year.

If home advantage is 3 points, then they more or less consider this one a toss up.

Washington currently has the 51st rushing defense in the nation. A far cry from OSU.
Michigan has a better OL than Iowa, a better qb and about even at rb. Washington held UM to <300ydd total, 174 rushing.

I see this as another tough game that if we fall behind by 10, we will struggle to catch up.

Hope I'm wrong.

Not sure why the Hawks are favored. Hopefully they can pull out a win!
Because as sour as we all are here they've lost by one point to a top 15 team, (that we should have beat by 10) and the top team in the NCAA and it was a game (at the Shoe) until we turned it over multiple times in the third quarter. We can beat everyone left on our schedule. The question is will we....

Exactly. Their defense rank is high because of their pass defense which may not help much if Iowa can run on them, so just another Iowa game. Establish the run and get a few pass plays off guard or lose if we can't run the ball.

Washington is a better program than many think.
I have been puzzled all season by how many on this board considered this game a confident Iowa win.
We do not match up well.

Matchups are important no doubt. If they struggle to stop the run then we'll be hard to beat . If they don't it will be a hard game. I think many are hopeful that them traveling half way across the country and the game being basically at 9am for them will give the Hawks an edge. We'll see. Not sure when they are getting into Iowa, but if I'm their coach I have them there by today, (thursday at the latest) to help with the time change.

Washington is an awesome program. My fav CFB stadium too. Much like Iowa, they often are overlooked. Not as consistent as Iowa but have a higher ceiling.

I think Iowa fans respect WA but when you replace 21 starters + a new coaching staff and Iowa brings back 18, the expectation should be to win IMO. Both programs are kinda similar and have never been super flashy.

UW fans have felt this game was an L all season but many are excited to visit Kinnick.

I would say that this expectation has been severely dampened. Washington appears to have rebounded pretty well from a ton of turnover in players and staff. Nothing like last year, but it's actually pretty impressive and a tribute to the new staff that came in. Given all the returning players and new OC, Iowa doesn't really seem to have improved overall as everyone might have hoped. Defense has taken a step back and the offensive improvement that everyone was hoping for has been marginal given the lack of any passing game. Game is and should be a toss up.

Ex- U Washington football coach Don James has to have served as the prototype for Kirk Ferentz.
His UWashington teams were mediocre at best offensively but annually featured GREAT defenses and strong special teams! It was not uncommon for James’ coached teams to have less than 300 yds of offense but score 35 points or more. James won the national championship back in the early ‘90’s.

Losing at home 20-19 to now #11 ranked Clown U (5-0) was embarrassing & is gonna haunt this Iowa team (now 3-2).

These two FIRST AND GOAL situations in the 1st half where Iowa settled for a FG were killers.

Instead of being up 21-0 at halftime, Iowa was up just 13-0.

(1) At the start of the 2nd Qtr, with Iowa up 7-0, Iowa had 1st & Goal at the Clown U 1-yd line. On 1st down, Moulton lost 3 yds. Cade, on 2nd and 3rd down, threw incomplete and on 4th and goal from the 4, Iowa settled for a 23 yd FG and a 10-0 lead.

(2) With 1:30 left in the 2nd Qtr, Iowa had 1st & Goal at the Clown U 3-yd line. On 1st down, Cade threw incomplete. On 2nd down, Leshon ran for no gain. On 3rd down, Cade threw incomplete. On 4th and goal from the 3, Iowa settled for a 21 yd FG and a 13-0 lead.

And it looks like Clown U is on their way to a 10-0 start. They then finally play a couple of ranked teams in their last 2 regular season games (at Utah, vs K State).

Clown U's (5-0) remaining 7 games:

They will lose at least two in there. At Utah for sure. And Kansas State has pretty much owned them (except for snow game last year). Call me crazy, but still think Kansas is a sleeper and will knock someone off.

Lots of “Cy Envy Syndrome” here in HROT. Jeeeebus keeeeeerist…. Enough already! Personally, I’d like to see them finish what they started…. But honestly they have 3-4 games left that will tax the hell out if then, starting this week at West Virginia. At Utah, K-State and UCF will be solid opposition for them…. But if they stay healthy they have a punchers chance.
