Iowa recruiting thread.

I don't think it was about money with those two. They were both making plenty. They left for the training situation.

Snyder had really stalled and was trying to get over the Sadulaev hump. Lou Roselli had left. Pretty sure he reached out to Cael. Dake is best friends with DT and was down there to train all the time. His main training partner left Cornell (Dean) and then Koll left. That was a gradual move over the course of a few years.
That's what I saw myself, but as I said I'm learning yet.

If messenbrink goes there Facundo should transfer. I’m sure psu would accept that trade off. But messenbrink has four years of eligibility, and there are additional middle weight studs coming.

Nagao is a three year guy. Didn’t psu just recruit two or three light weights in the past year?

Truax is a one year guy. Brooks and or star must be taking an Olympic. Barr is also on his way.

You say weights work themselves out and I generally agree, but they are starting to have quite the log jam. How many stud wrestlers are gonna be taking gray and red shirts to get into this lineup? It’s a good problem to have, but now it seems like they have their cake and are eating the shit out of it too.

Penn State doesn't have any more wrestlers on their roster than Iowa.

Serious question….how much does Spencer even roll with these guys? Only asking because of what ayalas mother said
See I could of asked this ... thought about it ... probably would've added something about what Spencer said in the Bar Stools interview.

One other difference - I wouldn't have feigned it as being a serious question.

But I really didn't post it, because I wouldn't want to increase anyone's suffering or appear more trollish than I already do.

Ayala is NOT a big time recruit.

He didn’t last year but will be in the future.

Certainly in regards to Dru. In the grand scheme of things he would be walk on level at a school like Iowa. Has yet to win a title while not wrestling above 113. Has some skills but not near as good as Drake and he is questionable to be a full sized 125.

Yes. Like I said, not a big time recruit.

Saw that Mesenbrink is announcing live on rokfin and Facebook today at 4. Link I saw was posted by Askren, not liking that because that guy does not seem to like IOWA!!!

He wrestled 70kg in 22 and some are saying F*** st again??? Where in hell would he fit in??? It is getting dumber by the minute over in happy kitty land!!!!

So you think he goes 165 for F*** st? and Facundo rides the pine and as they say "likes it" because of the great Krailure?
Yes, not sure if he qualifies for a grey shirt being a former cadet bronze medal winner. If so I figure he takes it this year and moves to 174 the following year.

70 kg is like 154. He is going to go up 20 pounds? and yes, they are digging their own grave over in happy kitty valley. They will see a lot more Bread type problems very soon! All the great Krailures promises/lies will come to light!

Who’s at 70 kg? Sealey and Mesenbrink are entered at 74 next weekend.

You mean Bread problems like with the bread and the fishes? Oh, probably meant Beard. BTW - That wasn't a problem for PSU. Dean finished higher for two years at 197. Last year, Truax also finished higher.

Do you spend much time choosing your words?

This is so delusional. Digging their own grave one national title at a time? (Individual and team.)

Do you read what you type? Or think about the context?

This would be good satire of an obsessed fans reaction to getting throttled by competition. Like, maybe a South Park episode. But it doesn’t comport well with consensual reality.

People keep saying the playing field is now even (new facility, NIL), so I guess the only thing now to credit or blame for iowa vs. PSU is coaching, right? Guessing we don't see much change in the NCAA order of finishes over the next 4-5 yrs. Not unless our staff makes serious philosophical, technical, and strategical changes.

In reality it's not level because PSU was able to use their "resources" for over a decade to dominate the sport and and amass the best talent with the premier club. Other teams having resources now doesn't put them on the same level as PSU.

Playing field is level, but they have a head start. Catching them will happen way sooner than 4-5 years

Well psu just got messinbrink... can't wait to hear they landed nagao too
It's pretty much laughable at this point. Nobody will be in the conversation to contend with them. Now they are hoarding talent so guys that you could maybe get and try to coach up to beat their guy are sitting on their bench. Throw in grey shirts and red shirts and Olympic red shirts and guys training in their room while they finish highschool and they are pretty much untouchable.

Just to be clear, way sooner than 4-5 years would be 1-2 years, so you are predicting a title (and then as many or more than PSU going forward) either in 2024 or 2025, correct?

I guess you could mean 2026, but I don't think 3 would qualify as way sooner than 4-5. Probably only sooner. Again, just to be clear.

It didn't take long for them to kick Facundo to the scrap heap.
This is addressed in an article with Flo. Between Haines, Facundo, and Messenbrink, there are a whole bunch of different options to keep all in the lineup between olympic redshirts and regular redshirts. They’ll make it work, unfortunately. Joe Sealey is the one I don’t see a path for but they’ll figure that out too. They’re about to be as dominant as ever, if not more so.

C'mon, that sounds too much like a defeatist attitude. Gable would have none of it. Regroup, redouble, buckle up, and soldier on!

I’d be extremely disappointed in if Iowa wasn’t looking for someone better in the same scenario.
They are bringing in competition for blue chips who have one not dominant season while we fail to address legit lineup holes and let guys go unchallenged that haven't been AA in 2 or 3 tries.

Nah. Only 10 can score. We’re just getting stated. This is gonna be f***.
